The hotel has an excellent location, just few minutes from train station and 5 minutes walk from main street. The welcome was great and throughout our stay all staff we came across were excellent, polite, engaging and represented the hotel in a very professional way. Special shootout to Julian. The facilities were great, good pool and excellent bar with again great service. I booked a classic room but got upgraded to a deluxe room which overlooked the pool. The room was quiet but in my opinion we were very unlucky with the room allocation. Room 205 is an accessible room, and we were struggling to see the positives in the room. The bathroom was a wet room, and the water went obviously everywhere when any of us had a shower, despite the water pressure was non existent and the shower wasn't warm enough either, this caused wet socks as the slipper easily soaked through. Additionally the drain had a very unpleasant smell too. The room was spacious but wasn't many places to sit and was no plug next to the bed. The bed on my side was OK, but the left side of the mattress was dented and you sank into it when you lied in it. During the two night stay, we swapped turns on it, so at least one of us had a good sleep. At check out , we mentioned the bathroom issues, and did get a sorry and a couple drinks taken off. Which is a nice gesture, however next time, I just simply wouldn't accept an accessible room, which really I should have done but it's always awkward to do that.

The staff is always welcoming and friendly - from the check-in counter and waiters to the assistants, bartenders and room cleaners. The breakfast alone leaves nothing further to be desired, the restaurant is a joy and the cocktails are ample. The Roi René is also perfectly situated for easy access to both the commercial area of Aix and the Festival venues. My only caveat has been that our coffee maker in our room did not function and was not replaced and the shower was virtually impossible to get working, but I was told that the hotel will be undergoing refurbishment over the coming year, and some of these difficulties are likely to be remedied.

The room was not cleaned thoroughly the soap and shampoo was I called to receive a replacement and never received until the day I was to check out

A nice, well maintained hotel near the old part of AIX with friendly and attentive staff. The room and bathroom were very spacious and spotless. The hotel also has a pool, which we didn’t get a chance to enjoy because there wasn’t enough shaded area.
