quick checkin, well located, very friendly staff. I'd propose to have one coffee in the morning on the house.

Room was not as shown on the website. It was old. There was no facial tissue provided. We were on the 2nd floor facing the road and could hear people talking throughout the night.

Poor customer service by hotel management

We were allocated the last remaining double room upon arrival in Nuernberg Altstadt Ibis, room 703. The slanted ceiling in the room makes this not practical as a double room as you cannot walk straight into or out of the room without either banging your head or ducking or squeezing past the bed. On the wall side of the bed, there isn't sufficient space to get into or out of bed comfortably. While the reception staff were understanding, due to the hotel being fully booked, we were not able to move rooms until after the first night. We were advised to contact the hotel management to discuss possible compensation for the first night. To start with, two of my emails sent firstly on the day of arrival (21st December) and again after the Christmas/New Year break (2nd January) were ignored. It was only after emailing for a third time on 12th January and this time copying in Accor customer care that we got a response. We were told that legally the slanted ceiling does not constitute a deficiency or limit the use of the room and that therefore we were not entitled to a partial refund as requested. We were instead offered 1,000 bonus point in recompense. It is no coincidence that this is the last room to be allocated when the hotel is fully booked, because regardless of the actual floor space, the layout of the room with the slanted ceiling means that it should either not be used as a double room or offered at a reduced rate, in the same way that theatre or stadium seats with restricted views are offered at a reduced rate. The management's response to this situation was pretty disappointing, so as a result, we will look for alternatives for any future stays in Nuernberg.

Great location but poor customer service by hotel management

Anja H TripAdvisor review

We had booked a two-night stay at this hotel in December and were allocated the last available double room. As this was on the top floor, it has a slanted ceiling, which means that if you are tall, you cannot walk into the room without either banging your head or ducking. While it is a large room, the layout of the room is impacted by the slanted ceiling, so it means the double bed is squeezed in somewhat and you can't really get in or out of the bed comfortably as there isn't a lot of space between the bed and the wall. The reception staff were very helpful but not able to move us as the hotel was fully booked, but we were able to move into a different room for the second night. The reason for our poor review is the response from the hotel management. It's not really fair to guests to rent out this particular room at the full rate, so we emailed the hotel manager on the first night of our stay to explain the situation and to ask for a partial refund for the first night. After not receiving a response for over a week, we emailed again in early January, but it wasn't until emailing for a third time and this time copying in the Accor customer service that we received a response more than three weeks after our initial email with the excuse that the hotel manager had been on leave (didn't receive an out of office response). We were told that they are unable to provide a partial refund because the slanted ceiling does not legally represent a deficiency and can therefore not be considered as impacting the use of the room, but for the inconvenience it has caused during our first stay we were offered some bonus points. It's no coincidence that this is the last room they allocate when the hotel is fully booked, and it is inappropriate to charge the full room rate for it. Will not be staying there again based on the disappointing way this was dealt with by the hotel management.
