Nice welcome and helpful staff. Clean and comfortable room and safe storage for bikes. A pleasant walk along the canal into the town centre.

Too distant from city centre, no restaurant, plastic pillows, not very competent staff

I arrived at 9pm to learn that the restaurant was closed because of "problems with the kitchen". As I had walked from the train station I did not want to walk back to the city centre. The staff needed some time that at this time of the day only one restaurant was open clos by and that I should leave immediately as they close at 10pm. So I left and walked to the restaurant arriving at 9.20pm, just to learn that its kitchen closed half an hour ago and that I could not have dinner anymore. So, I did not get any dinner this evening. I did also not sleep so well, as the plastic pillows are too bulky and the matresses are very light, so they move and a gap opens between the two that is uncomfortable. I got up 1-2 times per night to adjust the matress again. For the bicycle the hotel charges 15 Euros per day which is in my view not ok if you are located so far away from everything. In sum, better take a better hotel closer to the centre.

Myself, son and two grandsons (age 12 and 11) stayed for five nights. It was for the school half term holiday. The two twin rooms were ideal for our needs. The beds were very comfortable and we slept very well. The rooms were clean and well maintained each day with fresh towels. The breakfast choices of food and drink were just what we required. There was plenty of choice and adequate amounts of each food selection. The dining room staff were unobtrusive and efficient. The reception staff were helpful, polite and knowledgeable

Communication failed completely

Staff was not able to process my requests regarding the payment by credit card. Tried to explain several times on the phone and per mail.

dear TH, Thank you for finding the time to send us your feedback. I am afraid that the communication did indeed fail, though not in the way you seem to mean.I was here when you were in contact with my colleagues but clearly the actual issue was not properly cleared. We are, under contract with the companies, not allowed to just charge a credit card when it is not physically in the building. The only exception to this would be a credit card authorisation for that is 100% correct in stating the things that we can charge, when we can charge and that has proof of ID. I know that we have colleagues and other card accepting companies that are not this strict, but we have to be, especially when more than 1 detail is unclear or incorrect (such as the details of what can/ should be charged). Having said this, I am sorry that we were unable to explain this clearly and that this had a negative impact on your experience with us. I will be sure to address this with my team so that we can prevent the negative experience in he future. Kind regards, Reint - General Manager
