I came back because my first experience was good. This time I was in a room where the fun was noisy so we had to sleep for three nights in a hot room, with 2 babies. Apart from that the amenities are good for families, the kids enjoyed themselves.

We’ve stayed in other Novotel hotels a couple times before, so we expected a similar experience this time as well, but unfortunately it was a huge disappointment for us. When booking the room online there were no warnings that a renovation will take place in the hotel during our stay. We just got informed about this fact upon arrival to the hotel. The lady at the reception desk informed us that there is a renovation going on in the hotel on the 4th or 5th floor, so if we hear some noise don’t worry, it’s just probably that, and that it will only be done between 10 a.m and 6 p.m. So we expected some mild noises during the daytime. The very next morning at 8:30 we woke up for the banging sound of a hammer and some drills. We went to the reception to ask them what is going on, where the lady told us she had no idea about that and she will look into it. From that day on, EACH morning we were waken up by the sound of the construction between 8:00 and 8:30 (one day at 7:50), making it impossible to have a proper rest. One day we left the room at around 9:00 to find a construction worker right in front our room (on the 9th floor) with a drill in his hand, fixing something. We’ve realized that there’s no way that the reception of the hotel was not aware of what’s going on, they just pretended to be surprised so they can avoid confrontation. It is truly unacceptable to make people pay normal price for this kind of service, for a room in which it is impossible to have a rest at any time of the day. If a hotel plans a renovation of such volume, the hotel should be shut down for the time of the renovation or rooms should be sold out on a discounted priced and previous warnings that there is a loud construction going on. People go on vaction/business trip to have a nice time and any amount of rest they just want and need. Additionally: We had two other contacts with the reception desk crew, at each occassion they made a promise to help us, but they did not, so their credibility can be questioned as well. Also, the breakfasts at the hotel dining room in the hall were unenjoyable as well. The quality of the food was okay, but it was filled with raging children of families all the time, and there were noone seem to be caring about the comfort of other guests. On the last days of our stay there was a lady making balloon figures for the children, which made the madness even worse, not the mention decreasing the space even more in the dining room to move around.

Once you enter the hotel, it has a comfortable size lobby, restaurant; check-in process went by fairly well. Gym is small with barely any equipment. The room itself is spacious for a queen size bed with couch; however, couch does not pull out and is wide and long enough for the average American size male (or smaller). Bathroom is spacious, toilet, sink and shower are all located in same room; water pressure with full size shampoo and body wash bottles. TV is a good size. Housekeeping comes regularly if desired and do a fantastic job. It is walkable to a shopping area and a couple of restaurants diagonally across the street; otherwise you must take transportation to the downtown Lisbon area. Additionally, construction was being done during our stay so there was no option to sleep in past 1030 unless you have noise cancelling earphones, so if you go during the summer of 2024 (we stayed in late June), ask if the construction is still ongoing because it is quite the expensive stay to not enjoy staying in your room to relax.
