clean comfortable no-frills hotel but did not like the new offer for dinner: limited choice and the lasagne was very stodgy!

We find this hotel a very convenient stop-over on our way south. The rooms have all the essentials and are clean and the beds are very comfortable. The evening meal was disappointing comp[ared to our previous experience though we hope this is because of the infection risks and may improve in due course.

I had not stayed in this IBIS hotel for a few years and with the help of the directions on your website I found the hotel very easily. The welcome from the lady on Reception was very polite and friendly telling me about some of the changes that had been made. I had driven up from the South of France so was very tired when I arrived and had a very early night, I was in bed and asleep by 8pm so did not come down and have a drink in your bar or a meal in your restaurant. I woke refreshed and enjoyed a nice breakfast although it took me a few minutes to see where the fruit juice dispenser was. When I finished breakfast I returned to my room, packed up my things, dropped my key off at the box at Reception and went out to my car and set off for Calais.

Disappointed with standard of preparation

My wife and I have been staying at the Ibis Saran Nord for over 20 years, and normally at least up to four times a year. Although your advertising gave assurances regarding the preparation of the hotel and rooms with regard to Covid 19 we experienced the following: Initially given a room that had neither been cleaned or prepared and still had "dirty" sheets on the bed and all lights lit. We were concerned having entered the room.Aanother room was allocated that had been prepared however we were uneasy with the plastic beakers in the bathroom which were not in sealed cellophane wrapping and therefore we could not use them. The lever control to the bath/shower mixer was laid on the side of the bath and we had to re attach it to use the shower. We are due to make another trip via Saran in September but have doubts if we will stay at Saran Nord Ibis as due to our age we are in the vunerable catagory and because of this experience we have lost confidence in the hotel.

We are very loyal to the Accor Group and stay with you every year on our trips to France. This was the first time that I had reason to complain. I was terribly ill after the evening meal - I think the chicken was the reason and I have had debilitating symptoms of food poisoning for the last 48 hours. The service was slow but understandably so, given Covid restrictions. However, when we queried the chicken dish (we had ordered 3 main courses the same and the waiter told us this was not the case) the waiter was not at all prepared to bring us what we had ordered. I am French so this was not a language issue - he simply did not want to know. So I ate the chicken dish and unfortunately have been very ill indeed since then. Thankfully I am now recovering but yesterday was very difficult for me and my family. I sent my son the pay the bill as I was too ill to argue the issue at the time and had a 4 hour drive to complete. However, I feel I have to register this complaint as we have never had this issue in any other Ibis, Novotel, Mercure or Sofitel - and we have stayed in many. I appreciate that we should have raised the issued on checking out yesterday but I simply did not have the strength. I would have appreciated a discount on the bill as a gesture of goodwill. Many that can be arranged now?

This was just a convenient stopover on our trip to South West France. It worked well, as such. Seemed very clean. All basic needs provided, although a kettle in the room would have been good. We were glad of shade in the carpark in the hot weather. Two things: No English speaking news channel on tv was available, although it was on the listings. Also, hand sanitiser should have been more obviously displayed in the breakfast buffet area (it was hidden on the drinks bar). Egg boiler didn’t work. They should have cooked some hard boiled eggs and put them out. The breakfast didn’t seem as good as when we were last at this hotel. The man on reception could have been friendlier. Overall it was a satisfactory stop over.

We really didn't know what to expect after lockdown but at reception nice welcoming man, no formalities. Rooms clean as ever. Food in the evening, a Sunday, not up to previous standards but OK and we understood there's a lot new to cope with. Breakfast Buffet good - but is a buffet hygienic? A bit worried about that.

We have stayed at this hotel on many occasions. It is easy access to the motorway. Friendly staff and comfortable beds. In the present climate we understand everyone is under more pressure but the food ‘Canteena de Fred’ was way below the normal standard. There was little choice and what there was, was poor. The staff were pleasant and helpful. It was easy check out and the parking is good.

Helpful reception, as we arrived very late due to unforeseen delays. Social distancing and sanitisation were non existent or managed at all. Breakfast is a Covid disaster waiting to happen. Too many people were allowed in the restaurant unsupervised. Children picking up food and putting it back. Tables not sanitized after use, not enough staff to cope with reception and breakfast area.
