Very disappointed with the visit. The pool was under construction and we were not informed of this. The first apartment was dirty and the beds were very old and uncomfortable. We ordered an extra bed which my son sunk into. We were given another apartment which was better but still beds were very uncomfortable. Smoke alarms went off and no one came to assist until 4 hours later. A neighbour was kind enough to come switch them off for us. Reception did not even care to come up. We were told we would have mid week service and clean to the apartment and this did not happen. I have been on many holidays and this by far was the worst service I have ever received.

Very small old double bed. Both room totally outdated, no air conditioning, carpet old and dirty. To be honest whole unit is totally outdated and needs a full fit out. As I booked through Accor I thought they would have had a standard to their properties but this was the worst one I have stayed in around the world and I will be notifying Accor of the very poor standard of this unit.

Not good at all as I was initially put in non air conditioned unit. Ensuite taps faulty. No servicing of the rooms. For everything we had to ask but was not provided. Nominated parking was taken by someone else. Had a lot of issue checking in with no staff and parking the car. Will not recommend to anyone who is used to staying at other Accor Hotels and had had fabulous experience. I give this property 3 out of 10 only because of the fair location near beach.

I arrived and the last peoples soap was still in showers. The table tops including dining table and coffee table had not been Cleaned. Kitchen appliances very dirty. Finger fronts everywhere. Tiled floors so dirty. I took my sheets off as I always do when I’m leaving the underlay cover had a big wee stain. Plus second room had a blood stain on blanket. I gave up telling Sharon as it was to much stress on me. Very unclean In these times with Covid especially not cleaned to covid standards or really any standards. I’ve stayed here before and it was lovely. Sharon at front counter went out of her way to try help the best she could. This was the worst experience of a holiday I’ve had. I think this needs to be addressed as the standard to this unit were disgusting. I have a property in FV Peppers and that’s why I stayed here. Kind Regards Kris H.

Negatives - The Wi-Fi we paid for was non-existent, the hallway on our Level 19 had a noticeable smell of waste, enough that two members of our family said they didn't want to stay here again. Positives - apartment was clean with quality comfortable furniture, Foxtel was provided with movie channels etc. , Appliances worked well and plenty of utensils etc for cooking, our beds were comfortable and we slept well in the quiet, there was plenty of hot water, across the road from the beach and 5 min walk to the local IGA, and ten minute walk to Woolworths on Cavill Avenue.

Outdated and in need of a renovation

The apartment needs to be renovated - there were marks on the wall, tiles felt like they would pop out of the floor. The microwave, oven, cooktop and range hood should have been replaced 25 years ago. The fridge took 2 days to get to an acceptable coolness, the milk pods were past their use by date. The lounge rug had not been vacuumed, one of the coffee table legs is nearly falling off. The floor was sticky to walk on. Most of the door locks were broken or not working. Also, the smell in the hallway to the elevators was nauseating. The best thing about the apartment was the view.

3 out of 4 chairs were broken on veranda. Kitchen cutlery is old and dirty. Only had 3 big coffee mugs for a family of 4. Not one of the paintings on the wall was straight. Only 1 out of 6 lights in the bathroom worked. Kitchen is definitely dated, old and slowly falling apart. Surfers Paradise staff was willing to help and solve problems they had control over. It’s time for an small upgrade to kitchen and utensils and cutlery.

Great little room. The bed wasn’t the comfiest. The vacuum was horrible and the car park needs more signage. Got lost a couple times trying to get out. Other then those few things it was a nice room and would definitely stay again.

When we originally booked a room, we rang the Accor Reservation Centre. Our only request was for a room up high in the building with sea views. (There were over 40 floors in this building.) A week prior to our stay, the room payment was taken out and it was only after this time, when we rang to let them know that there would be four people and not just the two of us as per the original booking and to clarify parking. This is when we were informed that all the outside pools were undergoing renovations and were not available. Needless to say we were surprised and disappointed by this. We actually have a screen shot of their website, from that date, showing the facilities available for the building and all the pools are still listed. We arrived to find we were allocated a room on the 13th floor where renovations were being carried out. We were moved to the 21st floor to a room that had not been serviced. For example, two half-eaten cans of food still in the fridge and washing up in the sink. Before moving us to our next room on the 19th floor, a room check was supposedly done. This room appeared to have been serviced, although we quickly found out that the floors were dirty, the toilet seat in the en-suite was not attached, down-lights above the hand basin didn't work, a down-light in the lounge didn't work and the large sliding glass doors were filthy, the oven door didn't seal properly and the external surrounds and controls became very hot to touch and the air-con in the second bedroom didn't work. The first morning of our stay we spoke to Reception about the pools being out of action we were told it was on all the websites, including Booking.com that the outside pools were unavailable. We hadn't booked through this website so this comment made no sense as we had booked directly with the Accor Reservation Centre. We also told Reception that the air-con in the second bedroom didn't work and they asked us to just double check that this was the case. So we did and the next morning we informed Reception that it definitely didn't work. They said someone would go up to the room to sort this issue out. Two days later there still hadn't been any action on this matter and so we spoke to Reception again. Different person this time. She said she couldn't do anything but would email the person responsible for this and someone would be up the next day to fix it. As far as we know, no-one ever came to the room to address the problem air-con because it still wasn't working six days after we first raised the issue and despite staying another three days nothing was done to address any of our issues. The Sauna was not communal - there was a sauna in the Women's Toilet area and another in the Men's Toilet area. We were sharing access keys with another couple and we discovered that only one set of these keys had a key to open the toilet/sauna facilities connected to the indoor pool area. On a positive note we were happy with the location of Breakfree Peninsular and we loved the tennis court and BBQ areas. However, we would be very reticent to book again.

Rude reception lady

The lady at the front desk was rude, (sat 23 Oct 2921) we were locked out of our room as one of the lanyards we were given did not have a dead lock key on. The lady could not tell me enough times she had not started work yet, even though she was behind the counter. She did help me in the end, but not until she got me unhappy which l apologied for. It should never of been like that to start with, if she had not started work it would of helped if she was in the office and l wouldn't even of know she was there. She should not be in customer service!

Our experience from the time we booked our stay at Break Free Peninsula was 5 star Sharon the manager looked after our whole booking went over & above staying back to welcome us even showing us ware our allotted parking parking spot was. The room we were in on 35th floor facing the ocean amazing. We are very looking forward to visiting the Break Free Peninsula again in 2022.
