Not the best

Expected Mercure as a step up from Novotel. This location is ready for a remodel. The beds are a mattress pad on hardboard. The toilet ran incessantly. The lobby bar was never staffed and the views from the suites are of an alleyway.

Well.

Not great unfortunately, with the only good thing being it was 5 mins to walk to my office! So from the start the weather when I arrived in Paris was 32c, but it felt warmer. On arrival on Sunday to the hotel I found a very dated hotel which was in need of a reneovation very dark in the main reception with a colour scheme from the 60s. Staff were friendly enough, I had wanted to extend my stay by 1 day but it was full, so booked another night elsewhere. The restaurant was closed at 4pm when I arrived, as was most of the restaurants in the immediate area. There was also no room service available but reception offered the option of getting a pizza delivered. I instead waited for a Japanese restaurant to open which was very good at just after 7pm, 5 mins walk from the hotel. The room was fine size wise but again the decor was not the best with stains on the mostly red with black carpet on entering the room. The bath room again was not huge but decor and finish look tired and in some areas were stained/dirty looking. when I used the shower later that evening I found that the shower setting was shifting between too hot and icey cold. The final piece to this puzze was the Air conditioning unit, which on the settings control would not move to the cold setting symbol and as such blowing out warm air making the room baking hot. I went to reception who already knew about the problems as others had complained. He said that the Air con was controlled centrally and is normally set to be 8c less than the outsude tempreture, It was 32c on my phone! He then offered me a fan and I then I spent 2 nights laying ontop of the bed sheets and not sleeping very well waking up 2 to 3 times. I did get told that they had availabilty for the additional day I had wanted but was happy to say thanks but no thanks. I then escaped to the CITIZENX near CDG airport which was all of the things this mecure was not.

Never a four star

Never a 4 star. Tired, outdated, gloomy hotel. Lobby is a mess. Took a long time to check in and out. 2 star at most. Images don't reflect current condition. No iron/board in room. Couldn't even find the bar and restaurant. Building site opposite as of June. Avoid
