This hotel has no redeeming features. It is an old tired hotel and is not well maintained at all. The smell in the room was unbearable. The common areas where filthy and the lift look like a Service elevator. I didn’t even last night but you absolutely do get what you pay for.

The guy at reception had an attitude that was roughly as filthy as the room. The walk to the room was full of litter. The room itself did not look like it had been vacuumed with random pieces of food and rubbish around. The bed had strands of random hair in it when the cover was pulled back. The overall presentation is not what I would expect from an Accor establishment with pieces falling away from walls etc. The bed was comfortable. We realise that this is a budget room and didn’t expect the red carpet treatment but being Accor we thought it would at least be clean and the staff friendly and dutiful. We have a 6 week tour of USA planned and wanted to try another Accor brand before we went so we had an idea of the budget options under the Accor banner. However, our experience in Newcastle is enough for us to not even consider booking any of the Accor budget items whilst we are travelling.

Dear Barry, Thank you for taking the time to provide such detailed feedback. While we’re pleased to hear that you found the bed comfortable, we are genuinely disappointed to learn that the overall condition of the room and the service you received fell so far below expectations. Cleanliness and courteous service are fundamental standards, regardless of room category, and we sincerely apologise that these were not delivered during your stay. The issues you described regarding the room presentation, housekeeping, littered walkways, and the manner of our reception staff are concerning and do not reflect the level of care we expect of our team or the standards associated with the Accor brand. Your comments have been escalated to both property management and housekeeping leadership for immediate review and corrective action. We also regret that this experience has impacted your confidence in Accor’s budget brands, which is certainly not the impression we wish to leave with our guests. We appreciate you bringing these matters to our attention and thank you for your honest feedback. Should you wish to discuss this further, we would welcome the opportunity to speak with you directly. Sincerely, Management Ibis Budget, Newcastle

Currently homeless. Trying to remain on my path. Was only place available. I spent all my money on accommodation 30.12 to 3.01 26 because the IBIS team was just comfortable to be around. I havent felt safe in a long time so 1 night turned into my impromptu stay.

A well-located property for those wanting to stay out of the main town area. The staff (young lady) on our evening arrival and early morning departure (the same person) was extremely pleasant, helpful and well presented. Beds were very comfortable and it was good to still receive fluffy towels - not anything thin like a bath mat. Would be good if the single 'bunk' bed was made for guests like the bottom double bed is. Unsure why it wasn't. There is, however a distinct lack of apparent maintenance. 1) the hallway and bedroom windows don't actually fully close, so the evening traffic noise comes right in, and the window tether wasn't connected in the hall or one of our rooms, creating a fall from heights risk!; and 2) the wet-area caulking and drains really need a refresh. Of note was some missing breakfast items in the morning. We expected a basic continental breakfast given the brand, however there was only toast and granola, milk and juice - the staff noting they'd unfortunately run out of a number of other things.

Dear Paul V., Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback regarding your recent stay with us. We are pleased to hear that you appreciated our convenient location, comfortable beds, and the friendly service provided by our staff. However, we sincerely apologize for the inconveniences you experienced. Your comments regarding the maintenance issues, including the windows and the caulking in the wet areas, have been noted. We understand how important it is for a hotel to provide a comfortable and secure environment for all guests. Additionally, we regret that the breakfast offerings did not meet your expectations, as we strive to provide a variety of items for our guests. Your insights are invaluable, and we appreciate you bringing these matters to our attention. Thank you once again for your review, and we hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future. best regards, ibis budget Newcastle

We booked two rooms based on the online photos. We weren’t expecting anything fancy- just a clean, functional place to shower and sleep while passing through. Unfortunately, both rooms were extremely dirty. The beds were unacceptable. The sheets clearly had not been changed, the pillows were very flat, and the pillow slips weren’t fitted properly, exposing visibly dirty pillows. There was no mattress protector at all- just a sheet directly over the mattress and you could see how dirty the mattress was straight through the sheet. The floors were so filthy that we had to wear shoes inside the room. Imagine having to put shoes back on immediately after showering so your feet didn’t get dirty again, or needing to wear sandals in the shower because the shower floor itself was so dirty. The toilet roll holders were broken and hadn’t been replaced, and the toilet seats were heavily stained and dirty. I don’t understand how basic items like these aren’t maintained, especially for a large chain hotel. There were also roaches throughout the room. The fly screens on the windows were broken, meaning we couldn’t open the windows without bugs coming in. The air conditioning leaked and barely cooled the room- it functioned more like a fan than proper aircon. For $90 per room per night, we weren’t expecting luxury, but we did expect the rooms to be clean and the basic amenities to work. Because we couldn’t rest and didn’t want to stay any longer than necessary, we left at 4am to continue our road trip home. Avoid this hotel until the required maintenance and basic cleanliness standards are properly addressed.

Dear Sarah l., Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. I sincerely apologize that your stay did not meet the expectations we strive to uphold at ibis budget Newcastle. It is concerning to hear about the cleanliness issues you encountered in both rooms. We take matters of hygiene and upkeep seriously, and I appreciate you bringing this to our attention. I understand your frustration regarding the condition of the bedding and the general maintenance of the rooms. The comfort and well-being of our guests are paramount, and your feedback will be reviewed with our housekeeping team to ensure that our standards are consistently met. Additionally, I regret that the air conditioning and other amenities did not function as intended, detracting from your overall experience. We value your input and hope that you will consider giving us another opportunity in the future to provide you with a more positive experience. Best regards, ibis budget Newcastle
