SO Maldives looked after us from day 1 until our holiday finished. Staff were excellent, attending to everything we needed. The 3 restaurant options had exceptional food choices of the highest standards, not to mention cocktails.

Our stay at SO Maldives was nothing short of spectacular, exceeding every expectation we could have dreamed of. From the moment we arrived, we were taken care of by Ananna, our incredible butler. She anticipated every need, greeted us with genuine warmth, and made each day feel extra special. Her attention to detail and kindness truly elevated our experience. The culinary delights at SO Maldives leave all others in the shade. We have never tasted food like this – every meal astonished us! From the vibrant breakfasts to the exquisite dinners, the chefs managed to surprise us daily. Our sceptical teenagers — always hard to impress — found themselves raving about the food and asking when we could return. That in itself is a miracle! At the pool bar, the barman’s cocktail-making skills were second to none. Each drink was a masterpiece, and his friendliness and attentiveness added so much to our relaxation by the pool. He remembered our preferences and always had a smile and a great conversation ready. Dining at the Lebanese restaurant was a joy, with the lovely Indonesian lady who took such thoughtful care of us. She guided us through the menu, and her warm hospitality made every meal feel like a celebration. As a family of four with two teenage sceptics, SO Maldives managed to win us all over completely. We’re already planning our next visit – there’s simply nowhere else we’d rather be. Thank you, SO Maldives, for memories we’ll treasure forever!

SO/ Maldives was the perfect place for our honeymoon, and we had the best time! The staff were so accommodating, and so courteous our entire trip. Our Gem Anaa, was literally that a GEM! She went above and beyond for us with check in and check out, and everything in between. The villa was amazing and so well maintained by the housekeeping staff, the beach club was amazing and so was the staff, all off the food at the restaurants was delicious and we even got lucky enough to be there a few nights they had buffets and somehow on those night the food was even better. Our trip and time on the island at SO/ Maldives will be a trip we never forget, and always remember. We hope to return soon!

Before we had even arrived at SO/ Maldives, we were impressed by the hospitality of the team who welcomed us aboard the speedboat. From the moment we arrived, the resort felt like something out of a dream. We were greeted by our Guest Experience Maker, Maria, who gave us a tour of the resort and helped us settle in. Arriving at our villa to find a gluten-free cake waiting for us to celebrate our honeymoon was such a thoughtful touch and a lovely start to our stay. Maria shared all the relevant information via WhatsApp, which became our main point of contact throughout the trip. There were a few inclusions from our Luxury Escapes package, such as the daily massages, that had initially been overlooked by the resort, but these were quickly rectified once brought to their attention. We tried all three restaurants during our stay, enjoying the three-course lunch and dinner offerings as well as the buffet at Citronelle Club. As someone who requires a gluten-free diet, I was incredibly grateful for how accommodating the dining teams were. Many staff members remembered my dietary requirements without needing to be reminded, which made the experience feel much more relaxed and enjoyable. Claire, Araily and Luna were particular highlights of our dining experience. Their warmth, kindness and genuine smiles made such a difference to our days. While the majority of our dining experiences were wonderful, we did find a few staff members less welcoming and, at times, dismissive. Because so many others went above and beyond, these interactions stood out. Though we appreciate the long shifts they do work. The water sports team were some of our favourite people throughout the entire trip. Our package included coral reef snorkelling, which we thoroughly enjoyed. The crew took us approximately one kilometre around the reef and placed particular emphasis on swimming around it rather than directly over it. We really appreciated this approach to protecting the marine environment. Unfortunately, parts of the reef appeared bleached, which was sad to see, but it was encouraging to see the team taking steps to minimise further damage and protect the reef from unnecessary disturbance. We also tried the fun tube rides, which were an absolute blast! They were certainly expensive, but you only get one honeymoon, and we were glad we gave them a go. Swimming with nurse sharks was another highlight. As someone who is genuinely terrified of sharks, I was initially apprehensive, but the water sports team made me feel comfortable and supported throughout the experience. It ended up being something truly special and an experience I will always remember. We finished our water sports adventures with a jet ski excursion. We were lucky enough to spot dolphins almost immediately, which was incredible. The trip did become a little nerve-racking as we ventured into choppier open water, and I felt as though I might fly off the jet ski at times! In hindsight, this was largely down to our choice of experience, as my partner was driving a jet ski for the first time and we probably would have been better suited to a less advanced option. Nevertheless, it was an amazing adventure. We visited the spa every day to enjoy the daily massages included in our package. The spa staff were lovely, and the experience was relaxing and enjoyable. Unfortunately, there was one aspect of the package that could have been handled better. A few days into our stay, I got my period and wanted to change the type of massage I was receiving. However, I was told that the package only allowed for the same massage each day. As a result, the therapists repeatedly worked on the same areas, and by the end of our stay, my body was starting to feel bruised and sore. It would have been appreciated if there had been some flexibility to adapt the treatment to individual needs. Our overwater villa was absolutely breathtaking and easily one of our favourite parts of the stay. We spent hours watching little reef sharks and eagle rays swim past, snorkelling straight from the villa, reading and simply enjoying our surroundings. We also loved riding bikes around the island. I would absolutely recommend making the most of the complimentary bikes, as they are a wonderful way to explore the resort at your own pace. Despite the many wonderful experiences we had, there were a few disappointing moments that prevented our stay from being a perfect 10/10. Crossroads was a particularly disappointing experience. We had heard so much about Crossroads and were looking forward to visiting, but unfortunately, it was not worth the trip. We arrived at approximately 12 pm, expecting the shops and venues to be open according to their advertised operating hours. However, almost nothing was open. Several shops appeared to be up for lease, and there was very little to see or do. Our only suitable food option that catered to my gluten-free requirements was Hard Rock Cafe, where we paid approximately AUD $165 for two burgers and one drink. After eating, we spent more time walking around in the heat with very few places open and little to occupy us before our scheduled return transfer at 2:45 pm. The experience became genuinely stressful when, at around 1:15 pm, I started struggling to breathe. I have pre-existing heart and respiratory conditions and realised that I had left my inhaler back at our villa on another island. With no Wi-Fi or phone reception available to us, we were understandably concerned and unsure what to do. We approached the water sports team at Crossroads and asked if we could connect to their Wi-Fi in what had become a medical situation. Once connected, we contacted Maria to request an earlier transfer back to our resort. We were told that this would cost an additional USD $50. Given that I was struggling to breathe, we felt we had little choice but to agree. We were then told that the speedboat had arrived, but no one was there to collect us. We ended up waiting approximately 30 minutes, with someone finally arriving at around 2 pm. Given the circumstances, the additional fee and the urgency of the situation, the delay was extremely frustrating. The boat staff were also not particularly communicative or welcoming, leaving us feeling as though we were an inconvenience at a time when we were already distressed. We contacted Maria to explain our disappointment, and the transfer fee was subsequently refunded, which we appreciated. However, we didn’t feel good about the experience. We understand that unexpected situations arise, but when a guest is experiencing a medical issue, we would have hoped for a more reassuring, responsive and compassionate experience. We also tried using the resort app on several occasions to request buggies and amenities, but it did not seem to work for us. It would have been much easier to have a dependable way to organise these things independently, rather than needing to send messages and wait for a response. Our checkout experience was another major disappointment. We had messaged Maria explaining that we needed to be at the airport by 9:30 am for our 12:30 pm flight, as baggage check-in closed at 11 am. We were then advised that our speedboat transfer would depart at 10 am, which already felt later than we were comfortable with. Unfortunately, the boat was delayed by a further 30 minutes, and we didn’t arrive at airport check-in until 10:57 am. We were told we were the last passengers to check in and had almost missed the cut-off. This caused unnecessary stress at the end of what should have been a relaxing honeymoon. Given that we had communicated our timing requirements in advance, we expected. Despite this, we had a beautiful honeymoon at SO/ Maldives. The villa was stunning, the water sports team were fantastic, the sunsets were unforgettable, and so many members of staff made us feel genuinely welcome. The resort provided us with some incredible memories that we will cherish forever.

All the staff were wonderful and the accommodation was amazing

We took a 2br overwater villa for 5 nights and full board. It was a wonderful experience and we had the opportunity to view abundant marine life, from the tiny neon fish to whales! We went snorkelling in the coral garden which was magnificent and we thoroughly enjoyed all of the dining options across the resort (and came back a bit heavier than we left). The staff were all great and a special shout out to Luna in the Citronelle Club who helped make our trip special.

Loved the beach villa with privacy planting around it. The food was next level and service was amazing. We didn't want for anything during our stay. The beaches are like a postcard, the snorkelling was some of the best I've seen.

His personal attention made us feel genuinely valued as guests. Loona – The Nest Loona was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and approachable. Her warm personality immediately made us feel comfortable and at home. Kanchu – Spa and Wellness Kanchu felt like a member of the family during our stay. She always made sure that everything was going smoothly and that we were comfortable and happy. Her care and attentiveness were truly appreciated. Maria – Reception Despite the busy schedule at reception, Maria always greeted us with a genuine smile. Her positive attitude and warm welcome made every interaction pleasant. Najan – F&B Service Najan went above and beyond to make sure the quality of our food was good. We especially appreciated that he personally brought the food to us and took the time to ask if everything was okay. That level of personal service really stood out. Naeem – Citronelle Club Naeem was attentive and made sure we were well taken care of during both breakfast and dinner. His consistent service and attention to detail contributed greatly to our enjoyable dining experience. Anaa – Welcome & Service Anaa has an absolutely astonishing and uplifting vibe. Every time we saw her, she brought positive energy that instantly lightened our stay. Her warmth and personality are something we will definitely remember. Overall Satisfaction We are very satisfied with our stay at SO Maldives. The hospitality, personal attention, and genuine friendliness of the staff made us feel more like welcomed friends than simply guests. Most amazing time at SO Maldives; the views, the place..everything was spectacular and I couldn’t fault it in anyway! Lamir and Luna are the most accomodating hosts and would go out of their way to make you have a comfortable stay. I would dream to come back to this place! The best holiday I have every had!

It was A.. wonderful and unique experience in my life. There is only one thing I wish had been available: three-wheeled bicycles (tricycles) so I could get around, as I haven’t been able to ride A.. two-wheeled bike since childhood. This might make me hesitate to choose the same resort again, but if that were provided, I don't think I would ever go to another resort. Also, regarding our assigned host, Arshad: at the beginning of the trip, he was very cheerful and helpful, even changing our villa on the same day due to noise. However, for some unknown reason, his attitude suddenly changed. He started sending his friends/colleagues to pick us up, and even when he was in the same place with us, he wouldn't greet us. I’M. not saying he is A.. bad person, but even my wife asked me why Arshad’s behavior had changed toward us. Even one of his teammates took us and explained to us some stories and why the fish are gathering in some place and it was fantastic to know that while Arshad is silent when he come to us I considered him A.. friend at first, but later I started requesting the buggy directly through the resort phone instead of through him. In any case, he was the one who saw us off at the end, and I thank him for his cooperation, but I really wished I knew why his attitude toward us changed.

We can't fault our trip. The experience was fantastic from start to end. Our pick of the experiences was the shark snorkeling. The food and drinks were always delicious. All the staff were amazing and happy to help at any moment. Special mention to Luna who incredibly warm, friendly, and genuinely welcoming. My Fiancée loved every minute of our trip and would thoroughly recommend our friends and family to do this trip.

We tried to book the cinema, but our request was rejected because a private dinner for another client will be held at the same location as the cinema. We disagree with this arrangement, as the cinema and the private dinner should have separate designated areas. I am really dissatisfied with this situation.
