This hotel was an absolute disappointment! The room pictures were far from the reality. The toilet smelled like sewage, and despite our request for a fix or a new room, they completely ignored us and never returned. The swimming pool was freezing, and there was no heater, making it impossible to enjoy the villa even on a sunny day. The “butler” assigned to us was mediocre at best. He had no experience as a butler and had incredibly low standards for luxury, which is what the hotel advertises. We booked a stay that included multiple services, but he didn’t inform us about them and was determined to ignore them until I pointed out what was included in my package. The quality of the food in the restaurants was equally poor. The breakfast waiters were clueless, and the buffet had a limited selection. It took about 30 minutes to get an omelette, which was hardly a luxury. The lunch and dinner options were equally disappointing, with a lack of quality and selection. To make matters worse, our flight was at 6 pm, and we requested an extra 2 hours for late check-out until 2 pm instead of the scheduled 12 pm. However, they wouldn’t accommodate our request, even after speaking to the hotel manager. They only gave us until 1 pm, leaving us waiting in the reception from 1 pm onwards. To add insult to injury, they wouldn’t provide a transfer to the airport until 3:45 pm, leaving us sitting in the lobby for 2 hours and 45 minutes. And to our surprise, while we were waiting, we noticed other guests leaving their rooms and coming to the lobby by 3 pm. When we asked them, they revealed that they were actually allowed 3 hours late checkout! Overall, our experience at this hotel was horrible. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. I believe that the entire staff and butlers should be replaced or undergo extensive training to improve their service.

I requested a room with no obstructions twice but was given a room next to the service dock, neighboring resorts and welcome dock which didn’t feel as private. Our room aide Ana could use better training. Immediately when we met she brought up how it was supposed to rain all week. We were trying to be positive about it as we just traveled so far and had been looking forward to our honeymoon so not ideal the aide rubs this in the second we arrive. She continued to bring the weather up throughout our stay and felt like a bit of a negative person. For example, our flight left at 9AM so we were up quite early to check out and she brought this up as well “oh this must be an early morning for you”. Overall just several moments of commentary she could’ve kept to herself. Also we booked three excursions/appointments and were never told to arrive early so when we showed up right at start time the staff in charge always seemed flustered and in a rush to get us caught up with everyone else. Beyond our room placement and experience with Ana, the trip was great. Would’ve preferred lower pricing on lunch menu and toiletries (we paid $78 for sunscreen). Also, didn’t love you could see Male skyline. We flew all the way to get away from the city so to still have a view of it was very disappointing.

Booking was easy, and all of my questions were answered along the way within 24-hours. The booking was as-advertised and amazing. We stayed in an over the water villa and it was truly amazing. The onsite restaurants and sommelier were highlights of our trip.
