Someone tried to enter my room

I stayed for 2 nights. In the morning of 26th October (around 7.34 am) someone rang the doorbell and WITHIN 2 seconds later tapped a card and tried to open the door. Luckily I had the chain lock on. I Immediately opened the door and ask who he was. He doesnt speak english but claims he is froom room service, but I'm disappointed that he doesn't actually look like room service since he was not in uniform - he was wearing blue polo shirt. Rest of the stay was fine, but I just hoped to see better standard from Grand Mercure which I visit in other countries from time to time. If he is indeed from room service, maybe add more delay and try to knock on the room before attempting to open the room. And how is his list not updated? Sounds like a communication / process issue on the hotel side

We came to Jeju to both celebrate our engagement and also take some photos. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, they put a nice message in our rooms for our engagement, I am also a diamond member and we got upgraded. We also needed help with a lot of small things and the staff was so accomodating. We will definitely visit again!

Great Stay and Fantastic Staff

Good size rooms and cleanliness. Peaceful and quiet location that suit us very well. But what is most memorable for us is the fantastic hotel team. Mr Jay Jeon greeted us every day and inquire where we were going to explore each day trying to help us with tips and recommendations. When we returned in the evening he would check in on us to find out how our day went. He provided his mobile contact and told us to reach out to him anytime we needed help. He truly extended great hospitality to my family. After we checked out for our next destination to Seoul, my son realised he lost his watch when we were boarding the plane and fortunately with Mr Jay's help, the watch was found where it had been left behind in the hotel. At that time, Mr Jay was already on a break with his family overseas and yet he connected to his colleague Mr Kay to help us find and deliver the watch from Jeju to our hotel at Seoul. It was surprisingly difficult to do so as the express service provider refused to accept non Korean credit card as guarantee for delivery and after a few attempts, Mr Kay went on to use his personal korean credit card to help us guarantee and paid for the service without asking! When we tried to pay him back, it was also somewhat difficult to transfer payment from our overseas bank to his local bank but we finally were able to get help from a local friend in Seoul to pay Mr Kay back. My son's watch reached our Seoul hotel the very next day and Mr Kay even wrapped it with a towel and bubble wrap before packing into a small carton to ensure it was well protected. We are truly grateful to have come across such special people like Mr Jay and Mr Kay from the hotel. It is people like them that made our first ever trip to Jeju truly memorable. Thank you Mr Jay and Mr Kay for the wonderful memory and we hope to visit Jeju in the near future again.
