Decent stay for the price

The Mondrian hotel is nice and modern, all standard anemities included. What I would suggest for a higher rating is friendlier staff. The staff don't smile very much and aren't as friendly nor helpful as the staff from Marina Bay Sands - this is what I noticed because I had just come from MBS to switch over hotels in my trip to Singapore

Location of the hotel was great, easy to get around and walking distance to many of the main sights. Rooms were well furnished but a bit on the small side. Smooth check in. Breakfast was a little disappointing with limited options and we came across a rude staff member when requesting eggs.

Firstly during check in we told the counter lady that we are celebrating our anniversary which we have done so yearly. The reply we had with the counter gal was sorry we cant do anything. U shld have informed us before the stay. We werent expecting any bells and whistles but this sort of lack lustre reply was certainly not what we were expecting given the service standards we saw during our stay last year. Disappointed, we headed to the christina restaurant downstairs for high tea since it was our anniversary at 4 pm. Much to our dismay, the waiter told us that the last order was already closed and we can only order the alacarte menu. What a let down. No where was there any information about the last order. The rest of the stay was very standard. At breakfast we witness a couple at the next table being told to get their own coffee because the breakfast buffet has once again closed. They could still eat wat was left but the coffee order was closed. At a glance the barista was still making coffee and i cannot understand why the customer service esp in the hospitality line in the hotel can be so regimented. Most will go out od their way to serve customers. I think mondrian can do much better.

Overall it was a good 3 nights stay, perfect cleanliness, modern vibe, great selection of breakfast, good service (not so much from the more junior ones, but redeemed by the excellent service of the senior ones).
