We loved Sardinia. In my opinion, Alghero is the best and special town in Sardinia. And we have stayed in one of the very special hotels in Italy.

Great: 1. Location. Walking distance to everything. 2. Staff. Very polite and extremely helpful. The porter was wonderful. 3. Breakfast. Extensive with many fresh options. The best we had in the 12 days we travelled in Sardinia. 2. The roof top restaurant was fabulous - by far the best food we had in the city. Needs improvement: 1. Most of the pool area is in full sun and guests put bags on shaded seats to keep them without using them. This should be monitored and more shade needs to be added, it’s very hot. 2. We had cold showers on day 2 , as did our travelling friends. 3. The fire alarm sounded twice in the early morning on day 2. We were not notified if everything was ok so had to go to reception to find out - no apology.

The hotel is near the action in Cagliari. The rooftop lounge and pool provide a front row seat to the wharf, the nearby streets and distant airport which is one stop away from the train station at the other end of the wharf. The soon to be finished light rail will bring the beaches and the train station even closer. The windows keep the city sounds out for a great sleep. Great rooms, friendly staff. You will love love the coffee.

Your concierge Demetrios made sure our experience was 5 star all the way - he is so helpful and knowledgeable, and even managed to secure a dinner reservation at a booked out restaurant for us. We also appreciated him organising a later check out.

There was no bell outside for bags. There was no concierge, and the front desk had a consistent line. The breakfast buffet was limited in quality and quantity. You had to hunt someone down for a spoon. The pool area needs more chairs. Waited 10 minutes to check out. Overall it was a fine stay, but it was not a 5 star experience.
