Overall the hotel is nice but there are a few issues. 1. the privacy blind in the room did not work. Meaning no privacy if natural light was let into the room (there were apartments nearby with a clear view to the room). 2. my wife was stuck in the elevator when it decided not to decend to the selected floor. A staff member was able to get the lift to work. 3. Parking is difficult. When leaving for an appointment, a laundry pickup and drop off service was in the laneway preventing any cars from entering or leaving. After a while workers opened up the alley behind the hotel. But it was difficult to get the car into that area given the narrow space. Also when entering, if a car is leaving it is close to impossible for one car to leave and another enter the carpark.

I stay at the Olsen a lot - this time the room was right next to a building site and was very noisy. The other thing is that every time I check in it’s like I’m a stranger and have to go thru the same thing - would be good if there is a way to speed the process etc for regular guests

We stayed for 4 nights in August 2026. The hotel location was very good. We got the 2-bedroom deluxe suit. The rooms were very dated and dark. There was not a single USB port to charge the phones. The housekeeping service was poor. They were only making beds and putting new towels leaving the sinks and bathrooms dirty. The breakfast was good but the manager by the name 'Viu' an Asian guy I hope I spelled his name right; he came across very rude and racist. We came for the breakfast and requested to sit by the window. The manager refused very rudely. He said that we are a party of four and those tables cannot accommodate you however when I saw two tables were joined together and only person sitting there and another two tables were joined and only two persons were sitting but we were refused in a very racist manner may be because my wife was wearing a scarf. I have the picture taken which I hope i can share on this portal. He also rubbed on our face that we have not been sitting by the window since last two days. His rude attitude was noticed the servers and one of the sever suggested me to talk to general manager. I tried to meet with GM but the duty manager said he is busy in a meeting for two hours and my complaint will addressed to him and someone will contact me. As of today no one has contacted me by any means. I will make sure that I will post this review on other sites like Expedia with pictures so no other Muslim family faces an attitude like this.

I added a breakfast add on and requested one of the days to be taken away. I wasn’t given a proper breakfast and requested coffee to which I was denied. I also didn’t have my room cleaned daily and had to request for it to be cleaned. I checked out and saw extra charges on my bill and have contacted the hotel and have not received a response. Overall quite poor service - and I booked a 9-day stay.

We checked in around 5. The front desk person was fairly cool and unengaging and quite slow to get us actually checked in. We asked about self parking as per the person in front of us in the queue. “None left” we were told. “You’ll need to use valet parking”. Another $50. Room was small. Certainly it was clean but the bed was incredibly soft and unsupportive.pillows no better. It led to us constantly meeting in the middle and we both had a sleep deprived night. Plenty of hot water in the shower but cheap nasty toilet paper and just no joy or life in the room. We called down and asked for our car to be brought up. That was done quickly and it was waiting for us. Check out was bordering on the unfriendly. Unsmiling young lady confirmed there was no more to pay. I asked for the car keys and she handed them over, but still with the elastic attached. I had to ask for scissors to cut it off. The hotel was billed as “luxury” but it isn’t. Certainly the tariff was competitive and access to some restaurants really good. The whole experience lacked any joy or warmth. Team members were going through the motions. The Hilton on Little Queen Street leaves the Olsen in its wake. Their staff are warm, welcoming and interested in making your stay an enjoyable experience. The beds are brilliant and, while the rooms are small like those at The Olsen, they just exude a bit more “luxury” and comfort. Friday night their room would have been only $50 more and valet parking $65 compared to $50. I would have happily paid those extra dollars for a more welcoming and comfortable stay.
