Average, but clean.

This motel could be a lot better without much extra effort. Pro’s: Tram stop very close. Underground parking. Bar right next to motel. Clean. Con’s: Parking is $40 per night. Building site directly behind our room - started work 7am sharp on a weekday, woke us up. Room looks and feels cheap, no paint on ceiling. Has a kitchenette without anything to cook with! (Seemed a bit strange.) You’ll sit on balcony on your own, as there’s only one seat. The shower is small, made a tighter fit because the soap holder is on a wall of its own. Would be better under the taps as it’s very easy to bump. For the price it could have been finished off a bit better.

DO NOT STAY HERE

Appalling service and arrogant staff, even after emailing I have not had any response to my issues. They are a disgrace to Accor and as a Platinum member would expect better, Other reviews cover the issues.

The hotel could use refreshment

Location is ok but the hotel could use refreshment. The breakfast was very standard. The room was big enough for 2 people so it's ok. Easy to stroll along the Yarra river where a lot of restaurants and bars located.

Good Location but Lacks in Service

Pros - Great Location and Accessible to Tram - Hotel contacted me few days before stay to confirm arrival - Early check-in - Appointed larger room on 6th floor with nice furniture and fresh-looking carpet - Staff friendly - Naïma restaurant had good food for breakfast & lunch Cons - Lacking general ALL AccorPlus status recognition (no welcome item in room, drink voucher (had to ask afterwards) or breakfast inclusion - Naïma Restaurant hours limited to 7am - 2:30p (Accor website hours wrong stating 5p - 10p) - Body Wash and Shampoo dispensers empty in bathroom entire stay - Food on floor next to bed - Televisions in room limited functionality This was my second stay at hotel (first being in May 2023). My first stay, service was excellent and had a quick check-in and was given Accor status recognition at front desk verbally, upgraded room, welcome gift of wine in room, a welcome note from manager at time, breakfast and drink vouchers. I rebooked for this stay in December 2023 after such a great experience the 1st time. In short, I walked away disappointed this time and expressed as much on check-out when asked about the stay. The person at check-out stated he would let the manager know the feedback, so hopefully there is attention taken to these issues. I will start by saying staff were pleasant. The room assigned had fresh carpet and furniture. Part of the issue was a couple simple items I wanted addressed which I asked each day of stay never were addressed. I went to take a shower and found the Body Wash, Shampoo and Conditioner dispensers were empty (or not dispensing anything but a couple drips of liquid). Ended up rationing the face soap bar over my stay as there was not even the option to get little bottles. I also found a chocolate ball on floor visible next to bed. Each person I raised to said they would let housekeeping know but nothing came of it. The room had great televisions in them and had preloaded apps for Netflix, YouTube, and local channel apps. Problem is the televisions are not connected to Internet and you get an error trying to do anything. You can cast to television, but this requires you to connect to TV Wi-Fi connection. When you do this, you lose access to Internet on phone since television is not connected to Internet to pass through Internet. This made the casting mostly useless unless you have offline content to cast. I did not bother to report this as at this point, I felt like I would be bugging the hotel staff for one thing after the next. When it came to breakfast, I was told it was not included with stay which was a surprise from previous stay where they automatically issued me vouchers for my status. This was a first not having included as platinum (and previously as diamond) member at a Mercure hotel. I later learned this hotel does not participate in the breakfast program inclusion on ALL website which I guess is a change from May stay, as I had same room type booked each stay which did not have breakfast in package as I knew I get with status. When it came to drinks after getting settled, I asked about the drink vouchers and at first, I mentioned the app shows I get a welcome drink. I was then given a voucher for drink to redeem before restaurant closing at 2:30p during stay. The Naïma restaurant hours was also a surprise as I enjoyed going there in evenings my first stay but now, they only open in morning and lunch time. The Accor website was incorrect about hours but found correct hours on their direct website. Not sure I will return after this stay. While location is convenient, the shortfalls on service was a bit of a letdown.

Back to basics

The quality is certainly slipping. Had stayed here before and found it ok although quite basic. This time found that they do not advertise parking charges because it is $40 per night. ($18 on the next corner if you don't mind a short walk). One and a half cookies with some jellies and nuts on a plate which was apparently a welcome gesture, we queried with staff because of the half missing cookie as we thought the cleaners may have forgotten to remove it, and although the receptionist went up to the room to look, did not replace it with a fresh plate but explained that the "chef" must have accidently picked it up wrong. Bulk toiletries in the shower - Shampoo, Conditioner and Body Wash - all completely empty. A phone is in the room, but when you call for service no one answers There were also hot plates in the room with no saucepans - I didn't want to cook so that was just amusing. No mugs, just little tea cups Overall it was clean and comfortable but disappointing none the less, the little things matter and don't cost that much to provide....
