Great Serviced Apartment - Misleading Information re Features

Have stayed here about 6-7 times over the last 3 years or so. Recent stays have been for multiple nights. This time booked for about 10 nights. Required proper laundry facilities. The apartment was advertised as having a washing machine and dryer. We were (apparently) knowingly allocated an apartment without a dryer - remember this is Brisbane in January, so we went through a lot of clothes. The absence of the dryer was pointed out the first day after check-in, at the latest. The solution was to be given change for a laundromat for the duration of the stay. Yes - really, every day. No attempt at anything better was attempted, not even once. The indifference with which we were treated was unacceptable and took a lot of the shine off the large and well presented apartment and good features and location of the Johnson.

Great experience,however very inappropriate where the locals leaving in the hotel coming down to the pool and let small families with kids to be quite in the middle of the day. 1st if I have something it’s bordering me I will report to management not making customers uncomfortable. 2nd if I have decided to leave in hotel next to a pool then I’m expecting that will be noise sometimes when families have kids. 3rd If this is such a big deal for the residents maybe Johnson shouldn’t take young families.

Spacious room, clean and comfy bed. Excellent pool area. However, house keeping wasn’t done until after 6pm and after multiple requests.

Was disappointed that there was no longer a restaurant as this wasn’t clear when booking, booking.com states that purchasing breakfast is an option. Room was very worn and dated as well as pool area.

Disappointing stay with lackluster service

My partner and I stayed at The Johnson for a few nights. Overall we found the room to be a good size with a pleasant view of the neighbourhood in Spring Hill. The lobby is very spacious and the hotel is not too busy which we appreciated especially during COVID times. The pool has to be our highlight, it was not a rooftop pool but it did have nice views and a variety of lounging options. We wish the pool area was cleaned more as circular lounges at the back of the pool area were very dirty with stained pillows arranged in a very messy way. The public transport to and from the hotel was inconvenient, we were never able to catch a bus from one of the stops outside as they were very infrequent. If you are planning to stay at this hotel please note that there is no room service or cafe located at the hotel as the one they used to have has closed down. There are very few restaurants or cafes nearby in the area so you are better off walking 20 minutes to the city to grab a bite to eat. Ubereats options were also very sparse in the area as most did not deliver to Spring Hill. On multiple occasions we experienced miscommunication with the staff or calls to reception or room service were left unanswered. For example, we asked for our room to be made up urgently as we were ducking out, and after a few hours this was still not done. We requested for body wash and only received shampoo and body lotions. We asked for our bags to be stored away after checkout, and upon picking up the bags, were re-directed back to the room in which we had already checked out of as the same staff member was confused. I requested specifically for my frequent flyer membership to be attached to the booking which has never been difficult at previous hotels I have stayed at, and the staff did not know how to process this nor provided me with a follow-up on their progress. Overall we were really looking forward to an amazing 4 star stay, but unfortunately it seems our experience fell short of these expectations.

Overall we had a great stay at The Johnson from 2 - 5 Jan '22. Given the tough environment at the moment there were some gaps in service but this did not interrupt our stay. The rooms are super large and comfortable, very clean and we were located with excellent access to both pool and stairs to the lobby. The pool is fabulous - kids had a great time and the view over the suburbs behind the hotel is relaxing. Only on our last day did we discover both the great cafe across the road as well as Creole Soul Food also across the road - this is a must do for dinner during your stay. My girls also enjoyed their bubble tea from the little kiosk out front. The lady is so sweet and helpful. I wish her every success! We loved using the electric scooters which made access to the city and Southbank very easy. Just a couple of suggestions for The Johnson - the cushions on the pool furniture are pretty mouldy smelling, they could use a refresh. Also, it would be great to have pool towels provided. Some type of bar/beverage access within the hotel would be wonderful.

We were satisfies with the facilities and location. However we were annoyed we could not collect our Accor points for this say as it was booked via third party. It does not seem quite reasonable considering we still paid the hotel directly. Also the Accor website does not provide Covid friendly cancellation policies unlike booking.com which is highly critical in thecurrent constantly changing Covid environment.

We had a great stay at the hotel, rooms were nice and really prompt and friendly staff. The bathrooms were not that great and shower had poor water pressure and water leaked everywhere was like a swimming pool. Would likely not stay here again. The location is a bit out for my liking. Overall was a nice stay though considering it was over New Years.

Tired fitout and disconnected service

Our family stayed for 3 nights in two rooms. One room overlooked a car park with the other below street level. We asked for one of the room bookings to be relocated which the front desk agreed to. The next day the hotel manager advised the room was no longer available. There was also confusion over a complimentary car park that was given to us. We later discovered a note on our car stating we needed to pay for the car park. This wasn't charged but another example of disconnected service. The hotel interior and pool deck need attention. There was a section of the soffit to our terrace hanging down, scuffs to the walls, an out of order bbq and mouldy upholstery on the pool deck. We were excited to stay but left underwhelmed.
