Well located. Noisy rooms

The hotel is very well located. Service was excellent. Bed is very confortable. Room was very clean. However, the rooms have walls that are paper thin and you can hear everyone upstairs, in the room next door and people walking outside your room and cars parking outside. You can hear the people upstairs flushing the toilet and using the shower and even the fan in the upstair room. I got woken up multiple times all through the night. Very disappointed in this aspect of the stay.

The standard room is very limited

Great location, but our standard room was somewhat disappointing. It was very small, so little space to place any travel bags. The bathroom was nice with a walk in shower. However unlike other motels there were no facilities (or space) to prepare any food, albeit there was a fridge to store perishables - so all that could be prepared were hot drinks. There was a courtesy torch which didn’t work, and despite the comfy bed there was unacceptable noise from an adjacent room - it sounded like Concorde taking off, but we think it was the use of a spa bath (which luckily only lasted for 20 mins, albeit at 11pm- not great, and then it happened again at 6 am the following day!). Then there was a low level noise that we think was the bathroom extractor fan running for a fixed period after switching off, but it went on for a ridiculous period. We raised the issue of the noise and the torch with reception the following day and they seemed somewhat non plussed by the information, albeit they said there was a room above us (we knew that!!) and noted the need to look at the torch. So our experience was somewhat mixed, but overall we would not recommend the standard room if it was (as ours was) a the back of the block on the ground floor with limited natural light and a unedifying view of the steps/bank up to the parking area. Nevertheless, the bar/restaurant area is nice with a lovely view over the duck pond and lake beyond.

It is disappointing to hear the room you were provided failed to meet your expectations, I note your reservation was for one of our standard hotel rooms which are by definition and are of course advertised as a ‘Sleep & Go’ type accommodation. A recognized challenge for us is to ensure that all of our Agents and methods of booking are correctly informed of the size of the room. After arriving at the hotel, depending on the property occupancy, we are sometimes able to offer upgrade options. These upgrade options for larger room types incur additional fees as would happen in most all hotels. We take our guests’ feedback seriously, and your experience has allowed us to identify areas where we can improve. We assure you that corrective measures have been implemented to address the lapses in our service. We value your loyalty, and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused. Great location…. The walls of the rooms were made of paper. We could easily hear the conversations on the next room. Dining for breakfast was as expected but the dinner menu and venue was oversold. Again not what we were expected from “farm to table” advertisement.

While this was fine I can't really recommend it. I only stayed there because I was late booking and there is very little accomodation in Lake Tekapo. A Lake View Suite was all that was left. It was clean and well maintained, but the layout is very odd. A small downstairs bedroom and bathroom, then a large living area with a poorly stocked full kitchen upstairs. This just wasn't the accomodation for me. However, if you're looking to host six people to dinner in Tekapo you might be delighted with this. Instead I felt I was paying a lot for a lot of space I didn't need while the space I was using was very average for the cost.

Terrible service for 500 swiss francs

Arrived early so we waited around for check in. Some guy arrived 15-20mins before check in and was given a room right away (same specs as our reservation). When i stood up i was told our room wasn’t ready before i even asked. When they finally gave us a key, we drove over to the room to find someone still cleaning (way past check in time). On top of that, the water heating wasnt working due to maintenance work which we werent told about at checkin. No proper heating in the room (in a ski town resort?!!!) and only one electric heater in the big room upstairs. Only smooth thing was check out. 500 swiss francs wasn’t worth it and I was only expecting the basics.
