The whole point of me going to Port Douglas was to take part in the Cancer Council Shit Box Rally which raises money for Cancer Council Australia and is one of the biggest fund raisers that they get funding from. The rally has been going for around 14 years and raises around $2.2m each event. All the participants fund their accommodation at the start and end of the rally as well as flights etc so it is a big cost to each participant of the rally. It was really disappointing that the rally was postponed until July this year due to the Middle East conflict and between Qantas Holidays and Mantra neither wanted to help and as our booking was non refundable we did not go to Port Douglas. We even said if they can move the booking to July and we pay the difference in cost but nobody wanted to help which was extremely disappointing as i am also a gold Accor member!! I have since booked a new hotel for July and it is not the Mantra. I will now consider each time to book a hotel whether to book somewhere that is not managed by Accor.

Great location, but a little disappointed with the accommodation. The pool was dirty and we had to ask for it to be cleaned. We had a swim out room, but couldn’t use the pool for two days due to maintenance - not great when you’re paying extra for a swim out room! The gardens were unkept and not cleaned during our stay. Overall it requires some care and attention to make it a more comfortable and enjoyable place to stay.

Lovely, clean accommodations with sensational outlook. The place is difficult to access and difficult to move around. The after-hours check-in process was most unfriendly. As An Accor Plus Gold Member with a 9 day booking, I had to go to Reception the following day to claim my welcome drink. I was challenged several times as to whether it was already in my room and was amused to finally see that what was offered at Reception was two small bottles of soft drink ( approx ($1 each ) and a small box of sweets ! Some of the reception staff were friendly and knowledgeable and all of the ground staff were very friendly. The room was lovely and clean with a fabulous view of the pool. The balcony would have been great but for the ugly oversized spa bath restricted our ability to sit around the table on offer
