My wife and I had a very enjoyable stay at the Pullman Resort Port Douglas. While it sits toward the lower end of the five-star category, the overall experience was still very positive. The resort features a fantastic pool, a great location, and our room was comfortable and well presented, making for a relaxing and pleasant stay.

We loved the resort but our room had a stench of mould and was visible on the walls and airconditioning. We were offered another room but it was a downgrade on the plunge pool apartment with dated furniture and our sons would have made no use of the rooftop spa vs plunge pool. The condition did improve somewhat when we turned the air conditioner off and left the windows and doors completely open but we could not use the air conditioner at all. The problem is the mould has infiltrated all the furniture and fixings in the apartment. It was very dissapointing to read other reviews when I got home also complaining about mould smell over 1 year ago which obviously has not been addressed. This is the most dissapointing part that it is not being addressed. I can understand musty smells in the tropics but this was next level and is also a health hazard. This room should not be rented out in my opinion (room 154) I note that staff did admit there is a problem with these rooms on the golf course side of the resort which makes me wonder why it is not a priority if you already know about the issue. I asked if next time we could choose a specific room but was told no when I checked out. For this reason I will unlikey stay again which is a shame as the resort is great (pool is fantastic , breakfast/restaurant was amazing/ staff at the bar and in the restaurant were amazing and friendly). I would like to note one day I called reception as we had not had toilet paper replenished the previous day and were down to the last roll. They did not come straight away and we had to wait until House keeping cleaned the room. I am an Accor member but booked through Qantas. If it wasnt for the room I would have given an 8 or 9. I will be informing Qantas of our experience.

Only issue was our washing machine flooded and we couldn’t contact housekeeping and or the front desk so had to walk over to get help. Seemed like the phones didn’t work, always engaged even when we used the outside phone number.

The room i ordered was a pool side room I received 189 which I don't believe it's valid to be called a poolside room as you would have to incroach on the room 1 8 8 however the room was nice clean luxurious, in addition there was no mini bar, meaning I had to keep leaving my room to order instead of being docked a room service fee.
