We are from regional Tasmania. I was having a minor day-surgical procedure at the nearby Eye Hospital. and the Mantra Charles Hotel was ideally situated. We loved the renovation of the Art-Deco former LGH building. The bathroom was spacious and the room very well appointed and comfortable. We had an evening meal in the hotel restaurant, which was excellent. The hotel staff were all very friendly, helpful and obliging. There were two 'live' fire alarms during our two-night stay. The first during our restaurant meal (13th April), and the second at 6am the following morning (14th April). There was no staff member to receive evacuees on the second occasion.

stay was comfortable enough however we had 2 fire alarms during our stay, having had knee surgery on Monday morning getting down the stairs twice wasn't too comfortable, while all the guests were accommodating not one staff member thought to grab a char or something for me to sit on. I know the alarm is out of their control & apart from this the staff are very friendly & helpful

Good location and room quality but I received an invoice regarding minibar in which I have not used any of it. A refund was received after submitting dispute.
