Hi we recently stayed in 1 bedroom city view room which was in desperate need of a renovation and a good clean. It was spacious and comfortable yet lacking any form of warmth or soul. Only the absolute bare necessity were in the room. Even the complimentary drinks which are now served in your room, which is understandable however, there was 2 furfey beers in the fridge not even water or milk.. I phoned downstairs and asked if I could please have a water which was delivered to the room and to my suprise they insisted on having a beer back on exchange for the water which I found very odd. As accor plus members I would have expected a little more but it seems like that service was a thing of the past sadly. The hotel is in a great position and can not fault the staff as they were very friendly but sadly will not be returning.

Well located, roomy studio room, although no associated restaurant

The location was perfect, close to the exhibition and conference Centre, restaurants, and ezmart. The studio room had really good space, with a desk as I needed to work during the conference I was attending. The view was not great as looking over the railway, but I wasn't there for the view, and on the positive side, I couldn't hear trains thanks to double glazed windows. The reception staff was very nice answering questions or requests. And the common computer area with a printer was a bonus for printing my boarding pass. A couple negative points included no restaurant on site other than for breakfast, and mould on the bottom of the shower. The rest of the room was clean.

Poor quality, run down, minimal facilities, furniture and amenities within the 1 bed suite.

I called this hotel directly and booked a king bed suite. I asked for early check in, if possible. Upon arrival, the person at the front desk was less than helpful. She said she would phone me when the room was ready, as my flight landed at 6am and I was travelling with a child. However, she did not. Upon my (us) returning to the hotel at 2pm, she advised me that it was only just ready at that time. I could tell that was not the case, as my registration card had already been filed and processed when I approached the desk. I was checked into a queen bed suite. The suite was sparsely furnished with the cheapest furniture money could buy. The tv was small. The balcony was filthy. The bed base was actually ripped. It was incredibly underwhelming. I rang reception to clear up the issue, we were moved to a king bed suite. Same issue with the furniture, etc. There were exactly 2 of everything in the kitchen - plates, glasses, cups, forks etc - and 1 plate was missing. There were 2 towels only. The tv in the bedroom did not work. The chairs on the balcony - in fact all of the furniture - was (sorry to say) cheap, uncomfortable and nasty. The bathroom was very large, but it had a tiny bath, approx 620mm wide, including the shoulders of the bath. The shower screen was one of those hinged-at-half-width fold-back types, with filthy mould the entire length of the hinge. It was so gross, I had to take photos! The shower head was approx 80mm in diameter, and on one of those metal slide things. It did not slide up high enough to shower my head. Who would install the rail at this height? After night 1 of our stay, we went out for the day. I put the 'please tend to my room' sign on the handle. When we got back at 5ish, the room had not been seen to. As there was a housekeeper in the hall, I asked him about that. He checked his clip board and said, 'You are in an eco room.' I asked what is that, and he informed me that it is an 'economy room' and I have not paid to have it serviced while I am staying. What an insult! I said I am paying $450 per night, and I expect the room to be seen to. Eventually a housekeeper interrupted us and spent approximately 5 minutes tidying the bed and wiping the sink. She was pleasant, but she did not spend more that 5 minutes. The truth is, I have stayed in a number of Mantra Hotels and this was the worst. It has put me off the entire chain. I was the single low point of a surprise birthday gift for my daughter. We have stayed in many hotels, both nationally and internationally. This one was advertised as 4.5 stars. It did not meet our expectations at all. Oh yes, to add insult to injury, one of the elevators would not go to our floor as there was a problem with it. This means that when we needed the elevator - there were two - and that one came, we could not get the other elevator to come until that one went away, but we could not get that one to go away because the only floor our card could access was our floor! A number of times, we had to go back to the desk and wait for a staff member to 'authorize' the broken elevator to a different floor, so we could catch the one that would go to our floor! It was either that or wait for someone else to enter the elevator and go so that the other car would come to the ground floor and take us to our floor. The entire thing was a debacle and a disappointment. 1 redeeming thing... the duty manager was friendly and efficient. I could see that he was caught in a conundrum that he could not fix. He offered me and my child breakfast at the restaurant, and those 2 breakfasts were wonderful.

We were surprised to find that the restaurant didn't open for lunch or dinner service. One of the draw cards to keep renewing our Accor card is to be able to use it for dinning when we travel.

No free wifi.Paid parking???No room service.

Parking in South Bank is very limited and hotel offers a competitive rate for daily parking. For future stays you are more than welcome to find parking outside of the hotel. We stayed overnight in a one bedroom city room, while it was spacious it was old tired and in need of a renovation. Very basic amenities. While I can not fault the staff or the service I don't think I will return in a hurry.

A couple of important factors for me when I travel are the bed and the bathroom. I don’t know if the bed wasn’t a standard queen size or it just felt small because it was in a small room, mattress was too firm and lumpy. I am not a fan of a shower over a bath. I only stayed here because Novotel Southbank was unavailable for the month. The hotel restaurant was not open for dinner. We only stayed one night as a result.

This property is in very poor condition. We have staid here twice in the last few months and nothing has improved. Carpet missing inside robe, thread bare at bathroom door, blinds didn’t fit properly, very poor layout.

Perfect location for the Cultural Precint

The room was spacious and within walking distance to QPAC, the Museum and the Art Gallery. Unfortunately the hotel restaurant was closed for lunch and dinner but with so many restaurants/food outlets close by it was not a major concern.

We find Mantra South Bank so convenient when we travel into Brisbane to attend shows at QPAC. Situated across the road from the South Bank restaurant strip it's great for dining and easy walking distance to the theatre. Great also for an after theatre drink before turning in for the night
