I stayed at Novotel Brisbane Southbank for one night and, unfortunately, the experience was very disappointing. Prior to arrival, I had specifically requested a king bed and received an email confirming this change. However, when I entered the room, it had two double/twin beds instead. When I contacted reception to query this, the response was dismissive and unhelpful, with no real effort made to resolve the issue. At no point was I offered any assistance with my suitcases on arrival, which was surprising for a hotel of this standard. Given the room mix-up, I requested complimentary water as a goodwill gesture. I was initially told the hotel does not provide complimentary water at all. Only after pushing the point was a single bottle delivered, which felt more like an exception than genuine service recovery. Trying to order room service was another frustration. Repeated calls went to voicemail, guest services didn’t answer, and I eventually had to call reception again to place my order. On top of this, the room itself was not particularly clean, which added to the overall sense of poor standards. On checkout, no one asked how my stay was or invited any feedback, which felt like a missed opportunity to address what had clearly been a subpar experience. As a travel agent, I pay close attention to service, attention to detail, and how issues are handled when things go wrong. Sadly, based on this stay, I would not feel comfortable recommending this property to my clients. The lack of responsiveness and basic service recovery was extremely disappointing.
