First time back to Brisbane for many years & found this hotel had many tourism outlets close to hand. Variety of restaurants, supermarket & liquor outlets close by as well.

Internet wasn’t working half the time, online room service menu wasn’t working (had to chase to get one). Wasn’t aware the lobby was being renovated and it was very noisy during the day.

All the staff were very friendly. It was a big help that they stored my suitcase for us before check-in. Unfortunately, the lobby was under construction. I’d definitely like to stay here again once the construction is finished. However, there were few on-site parking spaces, and the individual spaces were very narrow, so I had to be careful when parking.

Staff were polite, room was clean and well laid out. There were a lot of works being undertake at the time of my stay creating hazards. The menu was limited for a person with seafood Allergies. The rooms have no information visible for dining times and menu; you are required to use devices.

I was disappointed to arrive to find out key areas were being refurbished. It didn't affect my one night stay but would have been courteous to be informed in advance of my stay. However the room was lovely and the hotel is in a great location

The hotel was a short 10min walk from Southbank train station. I had not expected the renovations going on in the foyer, but this did not impact my stay. Checking in and out was quick and a breeze. I was on the 7th floor and my view out was over the convention centre, looking towards the CBD. The view was spectacular at night. The first day l had a fruit salad bowl ordered room service for breakfast, and it was delivered at the time l specified. The fruit bowl was generous and delicious. My room was serviced daily. I used the pool and the gym during my stay. My room has good facilities and l could stream movies to the TV easily. May room was also very quiet; l could not hear any outside noise. I definitely hope to stay at the Novotel again.

We had a wonderful experience in the restaurant, and a very disappointing experience with Reception/Admin at check-out. Starting with the positives - the restaurant team were exceptional. Angela and Ryan looked after us so well, super attentive and the food was amazing. We also had the pleasure of being looked after by our dear friend Quinton who made the whole restaurant experience amazing for us. Cannot fault them at all, 5 stars for the restaurant team. On arrival, Indiana at Reception was also exceptional. She was very professional, accommodating and apologetic. The first room we checked into was not properly cleaned - there were a few items left from the previous guest, hair on the sheets and they looked a bit dirty, and there was a wet face towel left on the soap dispenser in the bathroom and the chair had chocolate stains on the seat. Indiana immediately moved us to another room and gave us 2 complimentary drink vouchers, which we appreciated. Where it fell down was the billing and check-out. Upon check-in I specifically said I wanted to pay as we go and ensure everything was paid before we head to our room, including 2x parking, accommodation, and the Lego Butler experience for my boys. When I settled the bill with Thien at Admin, she confirmed that was the total, so I was under the impression everything had been paid. At check-out, I was served by Madeline who was very standoffish, rude and unpleasant to deal with. She needs proper training in hospitality. She gave me a printout of the bill with miscellaneous and accommodation charges. When I asked her to explain what the miscellaneous charge was, she said "I don't know." I asked her to explain the bill and she then said I hadn't paid for dinner. I showed her the receipt and she looked and said "no not this, it's only for drinks" - She was making assumptions and then backtracking. She then referred me to Ashlen who was in charge at reception. He did explain the charges in detail However, he was also quite impolite. When I explained the experience was not what we expected and there was a lot of miscommunication, he just said "sorry" and that was it. He even questioned how we had 2 extra drink vouchers and when I explained it was due to the unclean room, he didn't reply and just stared at his computer , he seemed lease bothered and just wanted to get on with his day. I later had an email at 5.05pm when we were home, from Ashlen in the afternoon saying we needed to pay the charge of cocktails that were forgotten to be posted on our bill when i paid for dinner and had already left that night. Overall the check-out experience was very unpleasant and left us feeling on edge. Reception/Admin staff should be trained to clearly explain charges and speak to guests in a comfortable, professional tone. If a guest is paying upfront at check-in or at restaurants, the bill should be printed and explained then, so guests are not put on the spot at check-out. As an ex-staff member of Sofitel Guest Relations, I know the Accor standards and values that come with the brand name, and hotels under that banner should always uphold them. The restaurant team lived up to that standard, but reception/admin did not on this stay.

Weve been members of Accor (advantage plus) for over 10 years. But this Novatel was very average with renovations & no restaurant & no bottle of wine or even chocolates to make up for renovations. Issue with cleaners not emptying bin & kettle was filthy as well.
