Adequate hotel with poor food & beverage

I haves stayed at the Mercure Newport every couple of months since it opened. The bedrooms are consistently clean and adequately equipped. Food and beverage has never been good but has slipped from adequate to poor. Restaurant service is erratic, frequently menu and wine list items are unavailable, generally without the knowledge of servers. Breakfasts are extremely poor - fried eggs congealed, scrambled eggs grossly over cooked, boiled eggs almost raw, bacon poor quality and congealed, sausages burnt to cinders. Condiments and bread are low quality. Most guests I speak to are highly critical.

clean foyer. inviting free lemon water dispenser. very friend and welcoming receptionist Alex. lifts arrived quickly and rapidly to my floor. The star of the show is the privilege room! stunning clean, smart, comfortable and spacious. House keeping extremely efficient and helpful The only downside and unfortunately a very big one, is there no parking in front of Hotel and a very uncomfortable walk, with multiple luggage, to any car park especially in the rain.
