Smelling in the hotel, room I may say without window. Noice from AC. Toilet ruined and wrongly designed. Hotel required solid renovation. Shame on Accor company to have such poor facility in prestigious place. People are coming to spend good time in Rio but keeps poor memories from hotel. Do not recommend at all.

Grand Mercure has a 5 star rating so I expected allround luxury, which was not the case. First I would like to say that the receptionists provided excellent service. The concierge were very helpful.The employees are all very friendly people. Breakfast was good. Various choices. My room was very spacious and the bed was a queensize plus and comfortable but old duvet. The bathroom had a good shower but was outdated with limited toiletries (bar of soap, shampoo, conditioner and handgel). Minibar was well stocked but old. Actually I almost got billed for an item I had'nt took. But got this resolved at the reception. Reception was very professional. My only concern was of poor housekeeping. I stayed 6 days and not once was the floor in the whole room cleaned. Bathroom also not properly cleaned. There was hair on the floor by the vanity area from the previous guest.Their policy regarding towels I agree with so that was not an issue. But my bed sheets was not changed once during my 6 days stay. I myself witnessed housekeeping not performing any thourough cleaning in the room. Also the dirty plate and cutlery I used for desert was never removed the last days of my stay. Housekeeping definetly have to improve. This is to be expected for a 5 star hotel.

The hotel was in an adequate location. I wish that we knew more about the amenities on the upper floors because we just ate on 2nd floor.
