Good stay overall, but the lift needs to be repaired. It doesn’t go to the ground floor.

Furthermore, we expect our staff to provide prompt and attentive service, and it appears we fell short in this regard. We hope you were able to appreciate the prime location of our hotel, just steps away from the Luisenpark Gardens, the Mannheim Planetarium, and with excellent public transport connections that ease the exploration of the city. dirty, run down, I feel sorry for the staff working there and I am shocked this is a Mercure hotel

The staff are professional, happy to help, but you can see they are disenchanted. The hotel is in a state of disrepair. Maintenance is poor. The hallway carpeting is dirty. (please invest in a deep cleaning machine, and use it). The rooms are shabby, poorly maintained and dirty. There are enormous silverfish in the room - we found 3 in my daughter's bedcovers and 2 more on the curtains. There was an enormous coffee(??) splash on the curtain. My son asked if someone had been murdered there. The bed linen and towels are worn and full of holes (please don't justify it by being "eco friendly"). I went to the reception to report these insects and the receptionist without a word just changed our room (meaning he was aware of this issue and is taking a fatalistic approach; and by reading Google reviews I can see dirty rooms full of all sorts of insects is a standard feature here). The second room wasn't any better, in fact, it was worse - the airconditioning didn't work (please don't find silly excuses that it's a new thing, as Google reviews specify this as a long standing problem) and there was again a plethora of insects. I have never seen such gigantic silverfish. A part of the curtain was hanging loosely. The walls and carpets were dirty and all the doors were battered and chipped. We slept in our clothes, with towels over the pillows and without duvets, to avoid unpleasant surprises and with the window open as the aircon was not working. We could not wait for the morning to get away from this place never to return. The breakfast experience - the staff is professional and courteous, but the hotel seems to cater to large, unruly groups. There were several people from the bus tour group who dug their hands in the vegetable container as well as the muesli bowl, without using cutlery. (I understand you cannot do much about it, but that is the target guest group you are focusing on, which might also be what is lowering your standards. And the television channels - there are virtually no international channels (no BBC or CNN), but there are 2 Russian channels (one state television and one religious one). Given that most of the hotel chains have removed Russian channels from their tvs, I wonder why this hotel is keeping no less than 2 Russian channels available, and no other international channels.... I told the poor receptionist about our stay at checkout, and I felt really sorry for telling him about our ordeal, because you could see he had received such feedback often. I have stayed in a number of Accor hotels over the years, and in a few Mercure ones in Germany, but I have never seen such low standards. I was, and still am, utterly shocked. My children now use this night as the reference for the worst ever hotel. I booked it on the Accor website and did not check the google reviews as I had never ever had a bad experience with any Accor hotels. Actually, the Ibis Styles in Ettlingen is one of our favourite hotels and I have never had to doublecheck an Accor hotel on Google or Tripadvisor, I knew I could go to any of the hotels, but now no longer. I stayed in the UK and Ireland the week after this experience and did not once book an Accor hotel. Please invest in a good, full time Hausmeister and a deep cleaning vacuum cleaner, reconsider your target client group and be kind to your staff.

Very nice stay only complaint is one of lifts was broken and our bathroom bin was broken

The mattress was tilted so i couldn’t sleep all night. And the hairdryer worked only 5 seconds then stopped a few minutes. And again 5 seconds then stopped. I didn’t want to complain directly coz I have child and dog.
