We were in a Signature suite for 3 nights over the holidays. The only plus for the stay was we were able to check in a couple hours early and the front desk agent was very friendly. Now for the cons. The room is showing its age. The decor is outdated and the finishings aren't well maintained. The bathroom is tiny and the half-glass partition didn't keep the shower from getting onto the floor. We had just come from 3 nights from the Marina Bay Sands, so the stark difference in the room comfort, furnishings and finishings was night and day. The thermostat didn't go lower than 20. So I had to have the fan on at full blast to keep it as cool as possible. The bed is right next to one of the vents and at full blast, it is LOUD. So it was either a choice of being hot and stuffy or listening to loud gusts the entire night. None of which contributed to good sleep. Maintenance was called on Day 2 but they could not override the minimum temperature; and did something about a valve that was supposed to help. Spoiler alert: it didn't. Housekeeping missed on making up our room on Day 3. We had the 'please make up room' light lit, and were out most of the day. Came back to our room in the late afternoon; nada. Left the room for dinner at around 6pm, came back around 9pm and our room had been nicely turned down. Which was a bit of a surprise, given turndown service is supposed to be upon request. The 'regular' housekeeping miss meant that when we woke up dark and early the next day to make an early flight, we had no creamer or sugar supplies to make a coffee before heading to the airport. First world problems I know, but when you stay in a Fairmont, there are certain base level expectations. Again, comparing to Marina Bay Sands, where the rooms were immaculately made up twice a day (without request) and all amenities (bathroom and beverage) restocked completely. And lastly, the elevators conked on us not once, but twice during the stay. The first time it happened, the lights flickered, the screen in the elevator flickered and then the elevator stopped. We pressed the door open button, different floors, nada. Pressed the alarm button. Nada. Pressed the call button. Nada. After a couple minutes, I pressed the door open button and this time it did open. We scuttered out and caught another elevator down to the lobby. We let the front desk agent know of the problem; and he seemed very unperturbed; like it happens all the time. There was no urgency of maybe blocking off the elevator until maintenance could take a look at it. The second time a different (!!!) elevator did the same thing; except the stoppage was much quicker. We made sure to avoid these 2 elevators for the rest of our stay.... For your money, I'll look at other properties.

We had a great stay, and would like to share our compliments for its wonderful team of staff, including: Meka from housekeeping, who was lovely and helpful, genuinely caring about us and very quick to understand and to take the initiative to make our stay a better one We enjoyed the food at Clove very much, experience was brightened with excellent service from all there, including Jie Ming, Amshyar, Chef Ke Ming and Chef James!

I chose to stay at Fairmont given my long standing Accor membership and its convenient location plus positive reviews. Rooms Please note most of the base category rooms look into a building for up to almost 20th floor, so despite a great location, the views are disappointing. The only good part of the hotel is its proximity to Raffles City Mall. Food & Staff Ignorance The food experience turned out to be a royal disappointment. If you are a Vegan or an Indian Vegetarian, please do avoid this hotel at all costs. The ignorance of entire staff, across the property, about what veganism means is appalling, especially in the world we live in now. There is hardly anything vegan or vegetarian (Indian vegetarian) in the entire property. While they serve buffet in their venue names “Asian Market Cafe” - Fairmont conveniently forgets that India is also in “Asia” and the 2nd largest in terms of population - the entire buffet had 3 Indian dishes and that too of despicable quality. The people in the hotels (Westin) and restaurants/cafes of a much smaller island of Bali in Indonesia were more aware and respectful of dietary preferences than a brand like Fairmont operating in a global country like Singapore Despite reaching out to the hotel 1 week before check in, to check on their vegan/vegetarian offerings, there was no response or concern. Got in touch with F&B team after multiple followups post my check-in, and that team was all about talks and no substance ! Despite their utter failure to deliver what they promised, they promised to refund a small portion towards breakfast charges. While my Christmas break was ruined, I want to make sure no other Indian or Vegan person’s break is ruined by the rave reviews. So do yourself a favour and avoid Fairmont in Singapore.

The room hardware, though a little dated, is generally in good condition. The bathroom is divided into three sections but without doors between them, so it can’t really be used by more than one person at a time. There’s also no shower curtain, meaning water tends to splash out, although the area is clean and well maintained. One issue I found is with the lighting system—it turns on unexpectedly at night, which feels a bit eerie. For instance, when I left for the gym in the middle of the night, all the lights came on and woke up the family. The automation could definitely be toned down. Another inconvenience is the lack of power points. There aren’t any near the bed, and the USB ports are loose from frequent use, making charging devices difficult. Overall, it’s a good hotel with pleasant staff and comfortable rooms, but a few simple improvements could make the stay much better.
