Fairmont Mara Safari Club was an amazing experience overall. It’s located just north of the Maasai Mara in a really nice conservancy with plenty of wildlife, so it already feels special before you even start the game drives. From the moment we arrived the staff made it memorable. They surprised my girlfriend with a birthday song, a dance and a cake at check-in which was such a nice touch. Everyone we met was genuinely friendly and welcoming. Mary was a great server, and our guides Jonathan and Bernard were excellent, especially Jonathan who was always smiling and brought a great energy. Joshua also gave us a tour of the garden and bee area which was really interesting, and you could tell he was passionate about what he does. The lodge itself is clean and modern, and the lobby and restaurant right by the river are really nice places to relax. The tents are a cool concept. They’re not huge but very well laid out with enough space for luggage. I actually liked that there’s no WiFi in the tents since it makes you switch off a bit more. There were a few small patches of mold in our tent (26), mainly near the toilet and shower, but nothing major and probably easy to fix. The game drives were well timed in the morning and afternoon so you avoid the worst of the heat, and you can also do a full day safari into the main park. One thing that stood out was that our driver said we had to stay on the paths, but we saw other vehicles & sometimes ours going off-road and getting much closer to animals, which felt a bit off from an ethical point of view. There’s actually quite a lot to do at the lodge itself too. We did walking tours, a garden tour and there are bird tours, a pool, hippo point and even board games in the lobby. The food was consistently good and the boma dinner with traditional dancing was a really nice experience. We also visited the rhino sanctuary and a Maasai village which were both great. We also had a private dinner which was intimate and nicely set up, but it felt more like a small private buffet. It would be even better if it was more of a unique set menu experience. One thing to note is that the driver who brought us from Nairobi to the hotel wasn’t the friendliest, so it might be worth looking into other transfer options depending on your package. Overall, a really memorable stay with great staff, great wildlife and a beautiful setting. Definitely recommend it.

We had a wonderful 3 night stay with our son, daughter in law and 2 grandchildren (8 and 12). We have been at Fairmont many times but this was their first trip to Kenya. Everything was wonderful. The accommodations, food, game drives - all were fantastic.

Even though I only stayed one night, the camp was incredibly luxurious with thoughtful details throughout, the service was seamless, the food was amazing, and the staff were genuinely warm, friendly, and attentive. The morning and evening safaris felt like a childhood Disney dream fulfilled, truly an unforgettable experience.
