First time to the Masai Mara! I was looking for a unique experience. On arrival my diamond member at the check in was not recognized. There was a very large group in the hotel making a lot of noise. while this type of lodges was meant to be exclusive and offering a personalized experience. The group was making so much noise, so we could hardly sleep. Quite disappointing....

Overall I have more pros than cons related to my stay. The cons however are mainly to do with the game drives themselves. 1) our driver was not very proactive or engaging 2) when we were dropped to the airplane strip, it was 1 hour before the plane came. Our plane was slightly delayed but given there is communication on when the plane takes off from other camps, why is it that we are leaving so so early? Further, our driver did not tell us there’s a waiting area. To us this was avoidable 3) the bush lunch on the fully day safari was extremely disappointing compared to competitors The pros are of course the property. Beautiful properly , very kind staff. Reception, kitchen staff and so on great! Moses for example was really fantastic, as was chef Kapil. It’s a beautiful property. Learning that the other reserves have a much higher density of animals is a bit disappointing, but the property itself and those within were great.

Rooms and service were great. Food was average and maybe too much of a mix of foods.Crepes made fresh in the morning would be a plus as otherwise they and the waffles were a bit soggy. Food was not always hot.

Extremely disappointing experience at Fairmont Mara. The location is beautiful, the staff are kind and genuinely try their best, and our safari guide was exceptional. Unfortunately, the management is poor and the food quality is completely unacceptable for a five-star hotel. On our first morning, I waited 45 minutes for Eggs Benedict, only to receive raw eggs and poor-quality smoked salmon that was not even edible. For a luxury hotel, this is simply unacceptable — the food was well below average and nowhere near five-star standards. I have stayed at Fairmont properties around the world, but after this experience, I would not choose Fairmont again. This property falls far short of the standard and reputation I associate with the Fairmont brand.
