We enjoyed our brief stay at your beautiful hotel. However, the Covid-19 pandemic cut our trip to Vancouver island short. As soon as the virus is under control, we will be back to stay at the Fairmont Empress!

The gold member package was not worth the money. Yes we total understand the current pandemic with covid-19 and get that there was need to reduce certain amenities, with that being said the price should have reflected it, a bit annoyed we still had to pay full price.

We stayed briefly as the covid19 was still escalating. The hotel was nearly 100% vacant which we were told of as well as parts of the hotel being shut down. Understandably. We stayed in a room facing the loading docks (not sure why we couldn't have a room with a more satisfying view given the vacancy circumstances). Our mini fridge did not work which everyone we told was not phased by. The bathroom window was left open and there was dirt particles all over the linens hanging below. Drafty. All in all, a great property which could have been enjoyed under different conditions. We did not feel welcome regardless of the global issues we faced at the time.

Another lovely weekend at the Empress. High Tea is a priority for us and we enjoyed every minute of it. We got the windiest weekend of the year (but it was Sunny) so they moved us to another room facing the harbor where the windows didn't rattle. Swapped the big bathroom for a view but it was a nice change. The staff are amazing at the Empress. Every one of them!

It was great! But the view of the back ally wasn't all that great on the 6th floor. Which felt a little freaky. Always a bridesmaid, never a bride, like never a view! But overall, was beautiful hotel, glamorous, great drinks at the bar and the popcorn was delish.

It's a beautiful building in a great location. Staff were most attentive and friendly. Charging for internet is the one flaw, and it does put one off - after paying $333 for a room, yet another $14.95 per day for internet? Come on...

Stayed for a Conference but added 2 nts to enjoy the city. The Gold floor is exceptional from the decor and comfort level to the offerings from morning to night. We didn't want to leave. The Team there is wonderful, everyone we met and you could tell they were a real TEAM. One gentleman handled an allergy scare with a young guest so well! Guest service throughout the hotel was great! Also had a massage and the therapist was very thorough! I would recommend her.

I only booked for a one night stay but the interaction I had with all of you team was fantastic. I want to acknowledge Maddie from Q Bar who provided an amazing service. She was kind and very engaging. I asked her about the complimentary popcorn that she gave me because it was the best popcorn I've ever had. I even joked that she can send more to my room. To my surprise, I received a letter the next morning that there was popcorn for me to pick up at the front desk. This level of attention to customer experience is rare. I visit Victoria regularly for business and would normally stay at the Sheraton. The Fairmont will be my choice of stay going forward.

Extraordinary service from the Gold team concierge and lounge staff flakily! High tea was exquisite, though was unexpected to see an added tea premium if selecting creamy earl grey? The Lot 35 buy 3, get one free offer at the gift shop was a nice surprise so lots of tea came home. Overall, a really special weekend in enchanting Victoria. Sincere thanks, Francine

Lounge and Q were wonderful places to dine and drink. Personnel were gracious and fun to talk with. Singers at lounge are talented. Our room had a view of the harbour, which added to our stay. Location allowed for easy walking and access to routes when driving.

As it has been in the past, it's the Fairmont staff that make a stay at the Empress a time to remember. About the only small glitch was a room telephone problem; accessing voicemail messages was not possible and I had to go through hotel operator to retrieve them. Despite a card on the table advising to 'press Royal Service button', my phone had no Royal Service button.

Nice Hotel, but its seem to be constantly under renovation. 1) would have been nice during the reservation process to be advised many amenities were closed - I would have picked a different hotel 2) The place is a maze. Getting to the restaurant / bar is an adventure. Up down left right right left through dark hallways. 3) Noisy. I stayed in room 238 facing the Parliament Building. Street noise was quite loud in the off season 4) Hot water issues. The water needs to be run for about 10 minutes to get hot water. I mean come on, this is a Fairmont and supposedly a premium experience 5) Staff was attentive, but surface polite - example walking out we were approached by 3 different people asking to help. Nice but on the verge of annoying. A manager/supervisor asked if he could help, and after being told the valet was backed up, the manager went and told the poor valet to hurry up rather than helping out and going to get some cars himself. Just bad leadership.
