Checking in was awkward. No smiles, telling us we had a King room - I had to confirm it was a suite. Staff member did not seem knowledgeable about facility. She could not direct us to the sauna later in day. Service in the restaurant later that evening was also poor. Forgot to bring a drink we ordered and did not come back for us to ask again or to fill our water glasses until the end of our meal and distracted when pouring water, hitting the table with carafe. We could not find him to flag him down throughout our meal. We also were charged someone else’s meal to our room that evening and had to get it reversed at check out. Initially the lady at the desk said she’d have to speak with the head of dining. I was frustrated that she hesitated to refund us at check out. We did not eat two separate meals the same night. It should be easy for your company to find the correct bill, I should not have to wait for your mistake. With my persistence and another staff member present, she refunded us the charge.

After our hotel check in, we're meeting friends at the bar. After standing for about 10 minutes never being acknowledged by the staff members walking by we were finally approached with 'it'll be 40 minutes before you'll get a drink and up to two hours for food'. Clearly we were not welcomed. Day two. We had a lunch reservation at the golf club house prior to our tee off time. Went to the driving range. The Starter was not viable but the pro shop said we were free to use it. Once the starter got there he barked at us, in fact all 4 of us individually. We weren't doing anything wrong - he was just annoyed for some reason.

My wife and I have stayed at the Manoir on several occasions. This was our first disappointing stay! Here are the reasons why: 1. The line-up at check-in was long since there was only one attendant there at the time. This later became 3. 2. The wrong luggage was delivered to our room. I had to follow the young man back to the cart storage area to identify our luggage. 3. Same evening, our waiter brings my wife the food she had not ordered. 4. The (very new) shower was challenging to operate, and I got a very cold and unexpected shower. 5. The toilette seat was very loose on both sides. I did not notify the front desk because one should expect the cleaning staff to alert maintenance of this! 6. A power outage on Sep. 23 made our departure slightly more challenging. The above mentioned problems should never occur in an expensive, first-class place like the Manoir. We certainly did not expect this based on our prior very positive experiences.

My husband arranged the stay as a surprise for me. Beautiful surroundings, quiet elegance, lovely restaurants with excellent food and service. Room was comfortable and well equipped- unfortunately the usb charging ports to the side of the bed did not work, neither did the port in the dresser where the coffee machine was located. The large jacuzzi tub was perfect, the lights in the tub did not work but that did not prevent us enjoying it. Staff attentive and knowledgeable.

This Fairmont is operating on past glories, not current offerings. The room we were eventually given after delay, - being told the deluxe room booked was not available, offered a lessor room, was one of the shabbiest rooms I have seen in hotels for decades.

One night, family of four. At check-in we were told the children’s sofa bed was already made up. It was not. A call to Service Royal was answered and then cut off mid-sentence. A second call covered the sofa bed and two missing children’s bathrobes. It took 75 minutes, and then arrived in three separate trips: one adult robe and one child robe, then the second child robe, then the sofa bed itself, which was unfolded but had no pillows and no duvet. I was asked to choose a duvet by colour. I described all of this at the front desk that evening and was told our bar bill would be adjusted. At check-out this was questioned, because no note had been recorded. No single item here was dramatic. But nobody owned the request from start to finish, and a promise made at the desk left no trace by the next morning. For a Fairmont, that is the gap.

My wife and I were celebrating our 70 and 75th birthdays with an eight day road trip around the Gaspe crossing the St. Lawrence and culminating with two nights at the Chateau. After a long trip we were made to wait for our room until 20 minutes to 6pm. The room was directly across from the bank of elevators and there was a wedding party room several doors down and the revellers were partying outside the elevators. We usually stay on the gold floors when we stay at the Fairmont so were shocked at what was happening to and around us. To make matters worse, communications between the staff broke down in their effort to relocate us to a new room they next day and our luggage was still in our old room while we sat in the lobby yet again awaiting for the new room to be cleaned. As it turns out the room had been ready for hours and the message that our luggage needed to be moved was lost. Instead of the two nights being the highlight or our trip…it was a major disappointment.

AI Phone System to make reservations: 0 out of 5 Property: 5 out of 5 Staff: 3 out of 5 Food: 3 out of 5 Room 2 out of 5 We were a. few hours away when we decided to make a. reservation - It was around 6:00AM and we got the AI prompts while we were trying to check-in. It hung up on us twice. We get to the property and check in that way - the person checking us in was new and kept asking her coworker for assistance - fine / whatever. I would suggest having a. better training program - this was not her fault but the fault of the manager etc. The resort fee was not disclosed at the time of making the reservation. I asked several times how much were fees and taxes and was told the final amoount. I did call and get it removed but felt it was kind of deceptive. Again - not the fault of the person being trained but the person training her. The property and views are amazing. Lunch: No surprise, I ordered spaghetti bolognese. It was warm - not hot. The bread roll and butter was outstanding. Took a. long time to get our check. The room had very comfortable beds and pillows - for us, this is a. big reason to stay at a. Fairmont property. Beyond that, it felt like a. run down / side of the road motel. The closet door was stuck, the bathtub collected water and did not drain while showering - great water pressure though. Also the faucet was stuck for the shower. For what we are paying, I would expect a. well trained staff, no robot lawn mowers, and ditch the AI phone crap. I've been a. Fairmont customer for well over 30 years and want to see people - not the big corporate bosses making money at the expense of the customer experience.

We had a total of 6 rooms. Rooms were fine, feel a little dated. Service at the bar was not great, coffee machines broken down, forced to order from a set menu at the St Laurent. Just because our group had 9 people. Nowhere near the level of its sister property in Quebec city. Chateau Frontenac
