We were delighted with the upgrade and the room was excellent. Unfortunately both being in our 80's we found the climb to floor 3 without a lift a problem.

A beautiful place, I enjoyed my stay with you very much.

The staff were all very pleasant and helpful, I would highly recommend this place to my friends and family, and I hope I get the chance to make a return visit, the food was exceptional. Well done to your lovely staff.

A very disappointing stay

Firstly on our arrival when we checked in using my reference number that I was given we discovered that our room had been given to someone else. To our embarrassment. We had traveled from Newcastle Upon Tyne to get to your hotel . Your two young members on reception did not know what to do . .. I was extremely unhappy about this as this was supposed to be a joyful occasion. I asked if this could get sorted swiftly as I needing to freshen up after the journey that we had made to come down . There was a lot of confusion at reception. Reception wanted to speak to someone senior but he or she didn’t have a radio and they could not find this person for sometime . Eventually we we’re giving a room (great) NO . The balcony faced the car park . My deal that I had was supposed to have a bottle of wine in my room . NO WINE . I had to go to reception to remind them of this . This should of ALL BEEN ON MY RESERVATION DETAILS as that was what the experience was detailed as . I was then told at 21-00hrs that I could not have food in the restaurant. We would have to eat it at the bar . That made me extremely frustrated. I did however speak to a gentleman at the reception who got us in the restaurant but we felt rushed . Then after our meal that we had felt rushed , we were told that it was on the house . It would of been much more professional had we of been told that it was going to be on the house . Maybe we would not of felt as tho we were being rushed . Then breakfast the food was fair the taste was there. But not many staff around clearing tables , a lot of plates being stacked up on the service station beside the till at the entrance of the restaurant on the back wall and I mean a lot it was like jenga . The pool area and the gym were ok .

Lovely old hotel.

Loved the hotel. Only issue was I was getting ready for a wedding and the light in the room was very poor so I struggled to see the end result

Well what a lovely stay in an enormous superior double room in the old part of the hotel. Breathtaking views lovely grounds. A pool just big enough to cool down after the higher temperatures than usual for September. The staff were all extremely helpful- and especially Emily at breakfast who showed empathy to all those she helped and nothing was too much trouble. With the Covid restrictions although not now in place- it is important to realise hotels can’t just magic staff out of a hat and I must say they coped extremely well in what is still considered Covid times. Amazing couple of nights away for 2 essential workers. Thank you!

Great location, Hotel looking a bit tired

The location is lovely, set in beautiful grounds. the rooms are looking tired and very outdated, they are clean and comfortable. the bar and restaurant are ok, food if fair but not that great for the price. the hotel also seems to have a staff shortage! But the staff that are there are very helpful.

Stayed for two days and one night for a business meeting. Room was particularly hot and my bedroom was stifling and very uncomfortable. I was provided with a fan from reception but this was so noisy I couldn't sleep with it on. It's unusual to find a hotel without air conditioning these days and it really spoilt my stay. I can't see me using your hotel again when there are others in the area that are much better equipped. On the plus side the food was very good, especially the evening meal.

Our 3rd stay here, previous stay we had barking dogs in room opposite ours, upgraded this time to privilge room,we (H.) were in room 211 & our friends (B.) had a complimentary upgrade to room 13 in the manor which had air-con.. our room did not.!! so the room was unbearable with the heat, requested a room with air-con but told none available,so i asked for a fan,one was delivered to our room 30mins later which was a tower fan and a complete waste of time.!! Sleepless night & won't be returning to this hotel.!!

This was a massive disappointment for us both. The whole purpose of a luxury spa weekend is to enjoy a few treatments in beautiful surroundings. However, any enquiries we made at the Leisure Facility, were met with a 'Computer Says No' attitude, by the staff on duty. Our room was also described as a 'Superior', but was anything but. Just one uncomfortable chair to sit on, small attic windows that were screwed shut (apart from one, thanks to a previous guest and a pocket knife, we assume) a supporting pillar right by the middle of the bed and an outlook over the back of the kitchen where a chef appeared every hour or so to smoke a cigarette, have a hacking coughing fit and then spit every few minutes. On the day we checked out, we managed to look in on the neighbouring corner room that looked out over the grounds on two aspects, had a massive comfortable sofa and a separate table with four chairs around it. The room room itself was a world apart from the one we had to endure, yet they were both classified the same standard. Who are you kidding? Breakfast on the first morning was like a bun fight in a college dorm. This followed a wedding the day before and everyone was helping themselves and social distancing was an alien concept. The few staff that did exist were woefully inadequate to deal with the many challenges they were presented with and I felt really sorry for the duty manager, who was clearly trying her best with little to no support. On checking out, our request for an additional payment for the 'upgrade' was met with the offer of feedback to Jessica, who responded in a courteous and professional way to everything we had to say. Her agreement to waive the additional payment was the very least we might have expected. One further observation was that there seemed to be several families at the hotel who appear as though they might be refugees from Afghanistan. We may be wrong on this. However, if the hotel is helping to support the relief effort following recent events then you are to be congratulated and have our full support. We may be mistaken on this however.

We stayed for two nights, as we were in Warwickshire for a wedding. Very happy with the hotel; it was very comfortable. I did think the restaurant was quite short staffed; the breakfast team were quite stretched. I found the evening meal to be very good, but was disappointed at the choice of deserts; the one I chose was not available, and the only other one available had a surcharge on it; not good really. The food was very nice but quite expensive I felt.

Hotel a d room was lovely and amazing grounds. Food was delicious and nice breakfast. My only problem was when i booked the hotel online i recieved an email to add some extras. I selected tbe early bird 3 course meal, however this went into a state of pending and didnt prompt me to book a time. I had to manually find the site for the hotel restaurant and book a table. When i arrived at the restaurant the staff seemed unsure of the early bird offer and there was some confusion on the free glass of wine. I did eventually get our free glass of wine but then that evenin recieved an email stating my request for the early bird 3 course meal had been declined. They really need to have the offers on their website better managed and to be communicated to the hotel staff.

Hi we came to stay here to experience a night in the hotel before we get married at Walton Hall next August. We were given a room which hadn't been touched since before lock down, cobwebs and huge spiders every where, the shower light was broke and shower full of webs and spiders. We went to reception to speak to some one and they did sort it out quickly for us. We then went for a walk around the grounds of the hotel to see where we would be getting married to find quite alot of littler, glasses, paper plates just chucked in the bushes, bottles of spirits chucked in the flower beds and we were told that there would be flower pots outside of the venue but unfortunately there was just dead flowers which really disappointed us and are quite worried about our wedding next year and we are beginning to think we have decided at the wrong venue for our perfect day. We have paid quite alot already towards it so far and I'm very anxious incase things don't improve at the hotel. We both feel very disappointed with our experience.

After eventually finding it via Waze because the other navigation systems didn't like the postcode, we were really impressed with the drive in & reception was smooth . We had a privilege room which was clean & well presented. Food on 1st night was a bit school dinners & @ £22 for a 2 course expected better. Breakfast was great & full of choices. Spa area was also good, clean & great to use. Rooms weren't cleaned during stay as Hotel was understaffed but all staff we spoke to were very helpful, pleasant & overworked Would stay again but would eat & drink out next time

Great location but found the hotel very tired, needing a lot of maintenance or revamp. The window frames need attention etc. There seemed to be a lack of staff, only one person on the bar. He was very pleasant but needed some help. The breakfast was very good, lots of choice.
