Terrible stay!

TripAdvisor rating 1.0/5

Hayley S TripAdvisor review

We have booked 2 separate rooms for 2 nights. In one of the rooms, the air conditioning is not working, so I went down to ask if we could change rooms. The receptionist said maintenance issues happened in every room. After that, I went to check on the second room we booked, and it turned out the air conditioning was working properly. So I came to reception again and mentioned that we have 2 rooms and one of the rooms air conditioning is working. The staff were acting like they didn’t know. They try to offer fans, but even though it was the middle of summer, they weren’t even trying to look for a new room for us. It was a terrible stayed ever!

Just checked into the Mercure and spent the first evening spending it in Keeper’s this evening. Been served by Shaela, Kamila and Willow… they’ve been brilliant on the floor tonight and loved the atmosphere Keeper’s has 😊 the service was fast and friendly .. thank you!

Good stay.

Spent a night here. First room had a noisy airc-ondioning unit. Second room was much better, but the room was very dark (not much light sources). Bed was comfortable. No facial tissues available in the room or bathroom. I would expect this to be the bare minimum, more so in a Privileged Double Room.

Awful, shabby and rude.

Awful place. Rude staff. No aircon. I stay in Bristol regularly. Unfortunately my usual hotels were above my work allowance limit and I ended up here. Surly receptionist, no info about hotel or breakfast. Room is shabby. 29 degrees outside and aircon not working. No notification on arrival of this and when I called the front desk ( at the 5th attempt someone answered, I was told the aircon was faulty and did I want a fan. When I said this was not good enough, the woman said I could stay somewhere else if I didn’t like it. I advise to avoid if possible. I won’t be staying again.

Centrally located with its own car park

The Grand Hotel is located in the centre of Bristol and uniquely has its own car park (£17 per night). The Grand is no longer grand, but the rooms are reasonably modern, the bathrooms are still showers over the bath with a plastic shower curtain. The beds are comfortable and there are just about enough usable sockets to charge devices. The air-conditioning works. Breakfast is largely self-service, including squeezing your own oranges (there is also packet orange available from a dispenser), making your own pancakes and coffee and tea from a machine. If you want a decent coffee there is a specialty coffee shop right next door that does excellent coffee. The Grand is not a destination hotel but it does have a good location and does the job.
