We chose this hotel as it was relatively close to Birmingham NEC, there are plenty of villages with great restaurants within 20 minute drive and to use up some loyalty points. We’re a bit concerned reading other reviews but then pleasantly surprised and happy with the experience. COVID measures were good, everything was clean and room was as expected. When we returned from a great dinner at the Butchers Arms in Priors Hardwick, there was a party in one of the main rooms but the bedrooms are sufficiently far away for this not to be a disturbance. Breakfast in morning was fine and no issues with parking

The team does try very hard to ensure that our valued guests are taken care of. We are re-training our staff and doing some renovations, as well. The hotel was cold all the time we stayed there, bar was shut until 3pm on the Saturday ,it was also understaffed ,our room was cold on arrival and stayed that way .i asked reception what was going on and answer was its someone else’s responsibility ? .

We are working very hard to improve communication between our departments and also working hard with the infrastructure within the hotel. After lockdown and furloughs, we are ready to provide a much better experience on your next visit.

Turned up after driving for nearly 2hrs only to be told I'm not in the system so showed my reservation number even sent the confirmation to the front desk so they could look at it properly after an hr of faffing about they simply said your not in our system and we have no rooms . I wasn't the only one this happened to about 5 to 10 people had the same issue so I asked for a refund only to be told the Accor team were not in until Monday so I emailed there and then on Saturday the13th and still heard nothing luckily as there was an event that I was attending going on I managed to use someone's room to have a shower and get changed but definitely won't be going back.

Not on brand compared to other hotels. This is more Best Western than Mercure! No housekeeping between nights provided. Lights were out in my room and the corridors, they need to improve maintenance. They've half re-tiled the bathroom but left a grubby wall next to the bath with brown grouting. Orange mould and limescale blocking the shower head. According to website the car park is well lit, only 4 of about 30 lights were working. No lighting between car park and entrance which is an accident waiting to happen given the pot holes and trip hazards. Advertised as having a fitness centre and pool, neither of which have been open since the first lockdown I was told. These should be marked as closed on the website and nightly rates adjusted accordingly noting these facilities contribute to this supposedly being a 4* hotel. In summary, to stay as a Mercure brand, Accor need to show this hotel some love!
Bring a flashlight

Good average hotel although getting a little tired. I have stayed here many times over the past years however, you now need to bring a flashlight with you to get from the car park to the hotel. For the past three weeks or so there is no lighting in the car parking areas, none, it's pitch black, a definite health hazard.:(
