Ideal hotel for a short stay

My daughter and I stayed in a twin room with our dog who was competing at Crufts at the NEC. The hotel was ideal for us. Very comfortable beds and great water pressure in the shower. The room had everything we needed although it was quite compact. The breakfast was ok and we ate in the hotel one evening which was fine. Food and drinks are reasonably priced. Plenty of parking and the hotel was in a quiet location although better sound-proofing to the corridor would be good as we could hear people walking past. I would stay here again.

Amende pour stationnement sur parking difficile à récupérer

Nous avions réservé une chambre pour 5 jours autour Noël avec supplément parking pour la voiture en location. A notre arrivée à l'hôtel rien a signaler, tout c'est bien passé. A notre retour en France nous avons eu la surprise d'avoir été prélevée par la société de location de voiture de 35 £ + frais de gestion / jour, (total > 250 €) pour des amendes émises par la société gestionnaire du parking Ibis pour le stationnement que nous avions réservé et payé... Celà fait bientôt plus de 3 mois que cette histoire c'est passée et si l'hôtel a bien voulu entendre notre problème, nous n'avons toujours pas récupéré le montant injustement prélevé.

Gone downhill since my previous visit

I stayed here 3 years ago and thought it was a great budget hotel but this year my friends and I all thought it had really gone downhill. I was given a room on the ground floor which was fine but one friend arrived 2 hours later and because she got 2 dogs with her, she'd requested a ground floor room but was put on the 2nd floor as there were no ground floor rooms left. Why didn't they put me on 2nd floor? I wasn't fussed. The breakfast was shocking, nothing like the pictures on the website. No proper sized plates, only tea plates and slightly larger. The larger one could just about take a slice of toast and if you wanted a full English you had to pile it on top of the toast I've never had bacon, sausage and hash brown on toast before. On the 2nd day, all I wanted was a bacon & egg roll for my breakfast but there were no rolls at all, and no fried or poached eggs, only scrambled. On the Saturday evening my friend and I ordered food in the restaurant but after waiting an hour & 10 minutes we were fed up with waiting so we cancelled and asked for refunds. The lady behind the bar was on her own, dealing with check ins, taking food orders, pouring drinks and swerving food. She was working very hard but needed help. Certainly wouldn't stay here again.

Beware heating issues

In so many ways the typical average Ibis experience with basic but more or less adequate room, facilities and services. However beware that none of the rooms have the individual heating thermostat working. When switched on, the room heater is either fully on permanently if the outside temperature is low or permanently off if not. This is a problem on cold nights since one is constantly up and down trying to control the room temperature. I complained via the’Send the duty manager a message’ facility and when nothing happened had to persuade the receptionist to have an individual thermostat controlled heater put in my room. That worked fine but overall not a great experience and a situation I’ve never encountered in any other hotel anywhere.
