I hosted an event here and Jake made sure the coffee and teas were always filled up, always made sure I was happy and okay! He helped out with making sure the event was set up properly and was on top form!! Although he was extremely busy still made sure to check on the event and made sure everything was up to standards! Jake is the man 💪🏽🥳

Three nights at this lovely hotel. Location was excellent. Church was amazing. And the hotel staff very attentive to our needs. Would definitely recommend and come back again. Exeter is a wonderful place to visit, quirky shops and lovely lanes for obscure presents.

Comfortable and very convenient for city centre

Staff very friendly and helpful, and this hotel is so convenient for visiting the city centre, as Exeter Central station is directly opposite. The building is gorgeous inside, and obviously in bygone days a grand residential property. We had a room on the top floor - by choice - and it was comfortable with tv, iron and ironing board, hairdryer, tea/coffee making facilities, and a room safe. Main criticism is that the tiled bathroom floor was incredibly slippery even when dry, both of us almost ended up on the floor a few times - surprised that they’ve been allowed to get away with such unsafe flooring. Also the dressing room had only one power point and it wasn’t on the same wall as the mirror, so when the hairdryer was in use the cable draped across the floor - no shelf on which to put make up items so we used the rubbish bin from the bedroom and turned it upside down as I needed somewhere on which to put my hair straighteners and make up when the bathroom was in use. We were there for a function; the bar was very expensive but what was worse was that there was also a separate bar for the function, and it was more expensive than the main bar! The meal that was served as part of the function was superb, hot food on hot plates, quality food. Breakfast was £16.50 per person and there was a lot of choice - at least there would have been if they’d kept the hot food dishes full. We waited about 10 minutes for the sausages, tomatoes, bacon and fried bread and when it came out the food was transferred into small dishes on the hot cabinet. It was a large surface with a few tiny dishes on it - why not put larger dishes out and keep them full? People were getting very fed up, especially as you had to order the eggs - I can understand that, but it meant yet another wait whilst your “hot” food was getting cold. Only 2 members on duty for a full restaurant of people, and one staff member had to man the desk as well. More staff needed! We would return as generally the hotel represented reasonable value and was clean and comfortable

Kersys Friends getaway - TripAdvisor review

Attended what used to be one of Exeter’s premier hotels for a social event with friends how sad it is that standards of service have dropped to such a poor levels. When you voiced your complaint in a mature sensible manner the manager who had no interpersonal skills calls security to remove you ( small man issues) Draught beer options were Guinness or Bud light or you had to pay for expensive bottled options of cider or lager. Even after providing your choice of meal plus seating plan friends dinners arrived at numerous different times. Seriously how difficult is it to deliver two choices of food to one table at a time. This was a black tie social event raising money for a local sports club thankfully we put the poor service aside and everyone enjoyed the entertainment we organised for the evening.

Nomad23375461617 Friends getaway - TripAdvisor review

Our local football club organised a black tie fundraising event at this venue. The two course meal was good and that was about it. The bar to our function had only Blue Light lager on draft and eventually after a pipe change Guinness. They offered bottled Stella at £7 extra charge for three people. Another bar was found which served draft Stella but it was shut at 11. Why shut that bar why not the one that had nothing on draft? My husband challenged the manager earlier in the evening with regard to the poor selection on draft and he threatened to throw him out! Really. The other major issue for me which I have never seen before was the young inexperienced staff serving our meals. They were wondering around with plates of food looking at name cards to see what we’d ordered. The manager had a radio and he should have told them the pre orders for each numbered table. There was only two choices chicken or beef so not at all hard. Is there no common sense anymore. We also felt as it was a football function the hotel went over the top with security staff whom stood around on their phones. The ladies toilets smelt and two were out of use. They were also out of toilet paper at the end of the function. I hope the wedding party had better service than us but I seriously would not consider using this venue for any large function. Staff training and decent management are required.
