I knew this place previously when owned by Thistle. It was beautiful, stylish and comfortable. This is a far cry from that. Enter into what looks like a nursery school and checked in by two girls with laptops balanced on their knees sitting at a wooden craft desk. The hotel has taken its weather-based theme to the limit with umbrellas hanging from the ceiling, isobar on the walls and windspeed markers pointing the way. Follow the carpet "mossy stone footpath" and the line of hotel room doors wallpapered to look like front doors. Enter your compact room (only twice smashed an arm against the TV as I passed between the end of the bed and wall). Jaunty angled mirror adds to the "fun feel" along with the bedside shelf held up by an umbrella. More weather references in the small shower room and you are transported back to infant school with a toilet so low it tests your squat skills. At least the beds were comfortable. Breakfast was basic. We probably won't be back, preferring a "hotel for grown-ups" as the hubby said.

Booked this hotel as it was central, I was led to belive that family rooms were eitjer interconnected or next to each other. This was not the case we were put way down the hall from eachother which was extremely disappointing and caused distress as my son has special needs he got quite upset and it ruined out entire stay.

The check in was quick and easy, room as expected, lifts very slow, quality of breakfast good but staff to great cold be more attentive and informative, trying to assess who and who has not been there previously at the same time.
