Good day, Followed our stay in ibis Styles Manchester Portland. I’d like to inform you that our bathroom, room number 231 was not clean. We have found traces of something on the wall. They were brown traces and looked very unhygienic. We also found hand marks on the walls. considering the COVID climate and hotel commitments, we would have expected these to be cleaned off. We informed the hotel reception staff who were not helpful. The staff was apologizing but did not offer to clean the issue or offer an alternative room. Unfortunately, far from standards previously set. Check in was quick and easy as always with friendly staff on the front desk. The bar staff came across like they did not want to be there. The noise in the rooms was constant throughout the night with several complaints made to the front desk it wasn't until 6am when the night manager approached the room in question. Disappointing after so many good stays at this property.

I found the hotel location to be brilliant, right by Picadilly Gardens. But the bed was not very comfortable - far too firm with a thin topper on. And we found the walls to be extremely thin! So thin I wasnt sure if they had just wallpapered cardboard and stood it up! Could hear every movement in next doors room and we assume they could hear ours. All in all it was not a great night and we checked out very early to go for a coffee and go home to catch up on sleep. I would not stay again and would not recommend the hotel unfortunately.

Staff were very friendly - only good thing to say about the hotel. It was absolutely filthy, there was blood on our sheets, dirt in the shower, stains on the walls, paint peeling, filthy carpet. Not only that, the doors & walls are paper thin, hear people slamming doors all night and being very, very loud - understandable for a weekend but this was a Monday night.

Since we arrived, the receptionist was not very attentive and supportive, as in other Ibis hotels. I think it would have been warmer if they smiled at our arrival. It was not that easy to find the parking area and it was harder to leave the place, since they didn't explain us how to use the code they gave us for a discount. The rooms were of a decent size, unfortunately the soap was over and there was no hair dryer. Of course they fix that later under my request.

Had to move from first room I was given as window did not close properly and room was noisy. As I working nightshift I needed a quiet room. The second room (637) was covered in damp around the window but I did not notice this until I was checking out, no one at reception to mention this too when I left or I would have raised it. The state of that room was unacceptable.

Broken TV and blocked toilet in first room Broken heating in second room . No sleep due to lift mechanism vibrating trough room, paper thin walls and only 3 channels available in TV. Then emails and phone calls chasing payment that had already been made.

Stayed in two different rooms and floors and carpet dirty. Larvae crawling on both bathroom floors and first room had bits of tissue on the bathroom floor. Bathroom tiles also had stains. Staff very friendly and bed comfortable. Cleaning very below standard.

Really appalled with the cleanliness of the room. Dust everywhere, damp marks on the wall, someone’s fingernail on the floor (disgusting), dirty stains on the walls and ledges and black mould all round the shower.

This hotel spent 5 hours to send me the extra duvet.

The check-in was easy, even though they were adamant even not to allow check-in even at 2.45 pm. The room was very small, even though it was expected. My stay was for three days and from the moment I've checking in I reported that the room heater was not functional and it took them two days to provide a portable heater, that also after multiple phone calls and communicating with the reception desk. At the time of check-in they have told that breakfast will start at 6.30 and on the first morning i called to verify this and they said breakfast will be ready at 6.30. When I went down no hot dishes were available and no staff were present till 7 AM and when they came they informed that chef will arrive at 7 only and hot food will be ready by 7.30 AM. I tried talking to the staff and none was there and a tall gentleman came from the storage/office area and without even a glimpse of a smile told me bluntly that if hot food is needed I should wait.. The restaurant staff were good cooperative, but the delay would have been informed to guests at the time of check-in. The room was small and the corridors were very narrow. Subsequently I moved to another Ibis and it was a great place, by all means. The only advantage of this hotel is the location, right in the heart of Manchester and staff shall be trained more to deal politely with staff.

I keep shoes in boxes bigger than the room and the bathroom was so small you had to squeeze around the door to sit down or use the washbasin. Positives, helpful staff and bar with food on site and a central location.

Everything about this hotel is right for a short break in Manchester, which is why this was our third booking. Location is just a short walk from great shopping, bars and restaurants and close to Piccadilly Gardens - a main transport hub for travelling further within the city. We were just twenty minutes' walk from the Christmas markets. Rooms are small and quirky but you know that before you book - I actually think that our bed was better than the much lauded Premier Inn bed and we found that there was sufficient hanging space for coats, dresses etc. Our only problem was that there was no water supply to the bathroom washbasin!! The walk-in shower was fine with plenty of pressure but that offered a bit of a messy substitute when washing hands after using the toilet or when brushing teeth. It wasn't the end of the world and it didn't spoil our visit but we were a bit disappointed that, although I reported the problem by 3pm on the day we arrived, nobody came to look into it and we weren't offered either bottled water or an opportunity to change rooms by the otherwise helpful, friendly, courteous and efficient reception staff. In mitigation, however, they were very busy at the time dealing with a lengthy queue of new arrivals. Cooked breakfast was good, fresh and plentiful - a nice bonus when we thought it was going to be "continental". Overall, we would still recommend this hotel and wouldn't hesitate to return here if we came again to Manchester for a short stay. Message to Housekeeping - please check water supply before releasing rooms!

Having stayed in Glasgow I was so excited to stay in Manchester. How wrong I was! Hotel receptionist sneezed in front of us twice, no screen there. Corridors were full of chipped walls and ripped wallpaper. Decor of room was very poor with a very bad scheme (the weather). Room was ok, bathroom was really nice but it was poor service and damaged decor that let this place down. Plus was woken up at 430 in the morning by next door deciding to have a full on conference for an hour. Won’t be back.

Terrible stay at ibis styles manchester... If that was a large Queen room.. I'm glad I didn't bring my cat.. There would have been no room to swing it.The room was very tired and the walls had pen marks and holes.. One of our towels had dirty marks on it.. Although it was the weekend we got told to leave the bar at 11.00... Local NCP car par pay machine wasn't working so had to pay full price for stay.. Worst continental breakfast we have ever had.. I could go on. We have emailed hotel and Accor but STILL NO REPLY.
