Really disappointing level of privacy

The room was ok but there was not much room to move around. Some of the fittings were damaged or poorly considered e.g. there was a large piece plastic to seal the sink which was hanging off and, at any reasonable level of flow, the shower quickly caused the shower basin to overflow. The most disappointing thing about the room was that there was a thin adjoining door to the next room which was locked but let through the next door occupants conversation quite clearly even thought they were obviously speaking at a quite reasonable level. This really made us feel like we really needed to mind our own noise levels and we felt that we didn't have a reasonable level of privacy or the full enjoyment of the room. When we discussed with the hotel staff they honestly didn't seem very concerned other than to say they would send someone to listen to see if the other guest were making a lot of noise. I assured them that they were not, and that it was the nature of the sound division between the rooms that was a problem. They were full, so no chance of being moved. Not sure what they could have done but they did not seem very understanding, they didn't try to blunt the negativity of the experience and it was not a pleasant one as the neighbours did talk quite late into the night.

I visited with a friend mid week. The hotel is very central to where we needed to be. Close to shops, Xmas markets & tram and train station (Piccadilly). We were able to check in earlier than time stated, which was great for us. The hotel has a unique decorative choice (based on the weather) but was funky and interesting to explore. The reception area had seating and a vending machine for drinks/snacks. There is also an internal entrance to the restaurant next door, though we didn't visit. You cannot get onto the floors with bedrooms without your room card which made it feel very secure. The room had everything you'd expect and was very clean. Our room didn't have any natural light due to location but when you are using it to just lay your head, that isn't a problem. The room we stayed in was petite but had room to move around and sockets by the bed so suited us perfectly. When staying in Manchester, I would definitely stay here again
