I have used this Ibis hotel 3 times this year , Feb, Jul and Dec for a stopover after my flight from Athens Greece, before returning home to Adelaide the next day. I like everything about this hotel , a good quality guest computer, great restaurant, impeccable room, convenient location, Professional staff and not least, essential for me a late checkout, for which I am most appreciative . I would like to take this opportunity to mention two long standing exceptional staff members that make the check in process a pleasure even after a 23 hour flight from Europe. Harshita and Suttida, both Reception GSA, Professional, intelligent and welcoming with charming personalities.

This is a great base for exploring the city. The compact double room is the perfect size for a solo traveller and my room was modern and very clean. But the highlight is definitely the amazing location — the entrance is literally a minute’s walk from Hardware Lane and 5 mins from Melb Central! Great value for money as well. Will definitely stay here again when I’m next in town!

Good value for money but not enough staff available

I’ve stayed here a few times and find it good value for money, given the central location in Melbourne. The rooms are compact but clean and functional. I don’t like that the hotel pushes you to check in with self-service kiosks that do not recognise any of your Accor status benefits or provide any information about the hotel. For example, I have Platinum Accor status which includes breakfast, but the check-in kiosk asked if I wanted to add breakfast for $50. At the time I checked in, there was only one staff member working at the neighbouring Novotel reception and a very long line. The ALL priority checkin desk was unattended. This isn’t really enough staff. Finally, the hotel sends you a WhatsApp message after you check in and out which seems like a personal message from a human, as it says “I hope your check-in went smoothly. It is great to have you with us at Ibis Melbourne Central. How is everything with your room? …” But when I replied to this message with a question, I got no reply. Perhaps the hotel should make it clearer that this message comes from a bot if that’s the case.

Our room had no reasonable provision for luggage. It had a small area that also had a ironing board in it. They came and took the board when I asked but it was still to small for a small checked bag. See the pics. It had 2 drawers. I was deep and 3/4 full of safe. The other was on the floor and shallow. But that's ok, because there wasn't anywhere to put an empty suitcase. We were on a 6 week trip so we each had 1 checked size and 1 backpack. We couldn't even place the bags under the bed because it had a solid base. The shower was terrible due to constantly changing temperatures and the overhead shower head meant you couldn't get away from it. Im a Marine. I like order and hate disorder. Our room couldn't be organized. We had 2 rooms. 1 was for a friend. They didn't even clean her room 1 day. And another day she had to leave while it was cleaned. This hotel was poorly designed and engineered. Who designs a hotel room with out making provisions for suitcases? The bed was good and the staff friendly. That was its only good points.
