Scammed by the concierge. Uber app was $10 to destination but no connectivity. Ask at concierge desk for a cab and told it would be the same price. 2 blocks to station and $30 charged for a unmarked car( no cab) Called and queries but told "she is new". Total scam! Imagine how much they are making per day doing this to travellers. Disgusting!

My experience at the Ibis Central in Melbourne was far from what you’d expect from a four-star hotel. Here's why: • Not a Four-Star Standard: The amenities and services provided were far below the expectations for a four-star rating. • Towels: Only two large towels for the shower and two tiny hand towels were provided—no face towels at all. • Cleanliness: The bed sheets were never changed during my five-day stay, and the bed was made so poorly it felt unprofessional. • Room Size: The room was a cramped 13 square meters, with no surface to place belongings. I had to use the ironing board as a makeshift shelf. • Misleading Photos: The booking sites show photos of larger rooms (18 square meters). Be careful to check which room you’re actually booking. • Minibar: The minibar was completely empty. • Elevator Issues: The elevator worked sporadically—one time out of ten. Even worse, pressing the help button repeatedly yielded no response from staff. • Breakfast: The takeaway breakfast was extremely poor—a juice box, a milk carton, and some cereal. The buffet breakfast was far from what you’d expect in a four-star hotel restaurant. • Double Charges: The hotel charged my card twice for “card authorization” fees (nearly $12 in total), which were supposed to be refunded at checkout. Despite paying the full amount with another card, the fees were never returned to my account. Overall, this hotel does not live up to its four-star rating. I cannot recommend it, as the experience was disappointing and frustrating on multiple levels.

This is the first and last time I come to this hotel. I have booked a room for me to rest and have an important job interview. I have been informed in the system that I will stay late. I arrived at the hotel at one o'clock and stood in front of me. The hotel has one employee. Asian, probably Indian. The face is not smiling. I looked at her, a friend who said I came to check in. Jae received a passive response. Until now, it's 2 a.m. I haven't entered the room and sat and waited. It was a waste of my time and lost the most feelings since I've ever met.

My recent Solo stay was very good with the drive to Melbourne made easy with Valet parking. I was attending an exhibition at the National Gallery. The walk was about 20 min easy. My room was comfortable with lifts no stairs. Room was a little aged but had everything I needed! The next day I walked to VIC Market which was about three blocks away I was able to store my luggage and pick my car up later at about 12. On Saturday night I was able to get room service to my room for dinner although the hotel has a lovely restaurant downstairs and surrounded by many restaurants of varying cultures! I had the buffet breakfast for about $25 which was nice with plenty of choices. Staff at the hotel were extremely friendly and helpful! I look forward to my next visit!

Really Good Despite 1 Scare

On arrival I was intrigued by this hotel as it had a 'self check-in' facility which wasn't really my cup of tea as I would have preferred to have spoken to a human being regarding being checked in. However the room may have been small but it was very comfortable. Also the wifi was good and the staff were extremely helpful. By the way I am not saying this as an understatement based on my experience. As an hour after I settled into my hotel I wanted to go out so I got into the elevator and pressed the down button. However for reasons unknown it went upto the 14th floor and stopped moving. I wasn't able to open the doors and none of the buttons worked. I panicked and pressed the alarm before pressing more buttons for what felt like around 4 minutes, before finally the G button worked and I was able to exit. The concierge there at the time immediately took me outside to get me some air and water after realising what happened which was really good of him. After I calmed down he did give me a map and showed me the best places to go in the city. On check-out I did mention to another colleague about what happened and he suspected it may have been a glitch of sorts and will let the duty manager know.
