Great place to stay central to everything right in the middle of Chinatown great restaurants to choose from .. staff couldn’t have been any more helpful Rooms are on small side but clean and tidy bathroom …good shower water pressure best ever had in a hotel we will definitely be be back there

Not as good as in the past

We have stayed many times. The last 2 times the beds have been very hard and even having a “topper” on ( which we had to ask for) didn’t help. The pillows also were awful. Also no room service, even though it was stated that we get room service every 3 days. We had to go to reception for toilet paper, clean towels and tea, coffee and milk. The bar has become pure gaming machines and the nice restaurant upstairs has gone. We probably won’t stay here again as we have become disappointed with it.

In regards to the servicing of the room only on the third day, this arrangement is only temporary and we are hoping that we would be back to the daily servicing sooner than later. Unfortunately Louden Kitchen is now only open for breakfast, however Eva's Bar and Restaurant, located on the adjacent Pullman Melbourne on Swanston (just above the Black Opal Tabaret) is open daily. Loved the location so close to all the facilities. Bourke street mall, China Town, Theatres and so much more. the trams stop at the door to go round the city. Have stayed here before and will stay her again next time I am in Melbourne.

The accommodation was nice. It wasn't what we were used to staying in but it was clean, tidy and the staff were pleasant, polite and helpful. We did not spend a lot of time in the rooms, we mainly just showered and slept in them.

The staff are friendly and the location is excellent, within walking distance of any attraction in any direction. The room although titled a superior king was marginally bigger than a walk in robe and the bathroom small with no shelf space.

Perfectly located right in the center of everything on little Bourke Street. We walked everywhere from the Hotel so that was great. Now for not so great stuff - Service is appalling :( !! There was a couple of people at the front desk who took no notice of the growing queue of people waiting to check-in. I did my check-in on the ACCOR app which was great but still had to queue so they could take the CC deposit, which turned out to be a 20 minute affair (insert angry emoji here). They were also taking phone calls and had absolutely no sense of urgency, something I noticed across breakfast and luggage drop as well. Now for the lifts (2 lifts) - poor people on the lower levels! Rush hours ex breakfast and check-out, would see other queues outside lift doors, with packed lifts coming down from the top floors. We were on level 9 and luckily, being that high, afforded us with entering the lift without too many spots taken but, by the time we stopped at almost every level on the way down, we would be packed like sardines once reaching the ground floor. C'mon Mercure, this is absolutely not acceptable by your paying guests. I can only imagine a fire drill over 11 floors with 330 rooms! What a shame we experienced all of this, I will most surely pay a little more next time to stay central and wont be suggesting the Mercure Welcome Melbourne to my friends. Sorry guys.

Visited Melbourne for a couple of days to attend the races @ Caulfield. Have stayed here many times before and thoroughly enjoyed the experience once again. The central location was a big attraction plus the standard of the hotel was excellent. The customer service team were very professional too.

If you have a few days of work and play in Melbourne the Mercure Welcome Melbourne is a great place to stay. Close to the main CBD, Shops, Theatres and China Town Restaurants. The motel shares a restaurant / bar with the Pullman which has good food and a provides a place for a drink with colleagues and friends.

Stayed in this hotel for 2 nights while in Melbourne. The hotel has a really great location very central and everything you need is just around the corner. I joined the Australian Open while I was there and for this purpose the hotel was definitely very well located. Just two stops with the free tram and then a little walk to the entrance. Definitely can recommend it for this purpose. The breakfast area does not really look like a restaurant - it's more of a canteen kind of feel. Also there is not a big selection of bred - mostly toast, no bred or rolls you'd get at Mercure in Germany for example. Other than that the buffet breakfast includes all essentials which is good. You can order poached eggs separately - unfortunately no omelette though :( The rooms are very small compared to other Mercure hotels I stayed in in the past. Not sure if the upgrade rooms are bigger as I only booked and got a normal room.

Great hotel for the Australian Open

The Mercure Welcome Melbourne was centrally located to great shopping malls, Chinatown eateries, and the Australian Tennis Open. The free trams to the tennis are certainly a bonus, although I was able to walk home from the Rod Laver Arena one evening.

The hotel is old & tired

The room was very small. The bathroom very tight a larger person would have difficulty turning around in the shower. We pillows were lumpy we had to request more pillows. The hotel is in bad need of renovations. However the cleanliness of the room and staff were great especially a young man called Tarun. He was so so helpful and provided service with a happy smile.

The location is superb, no question about it. The room can give you a good night sleep. The quality of the buffet breakfast is very average, but it fills you up. $25/person is slightly overprice, even if kids are free. The last thing I would suggest the hotel is to change the in-room lighting from 'cool daylight' to 'warm white'.

Mercure stay

The pictures on the website were much better than the actual accommodations. Budget hotel in many respects. Could not really differentiate this hotel between the budget Ibis line. Was there for three days and in retrospect should have paid a bit more and stayed at the Pullman next door.

I booked 6 rooms for the weekend for family function. The booking system was chaotic. None of my guests were informed if they had breakfast or not. One guest was told she was only booked for 2 nights when it was 3. I was told I had only paid a deposit when I had paid in full. I was charged for early check in which should have been free as I am an Accor member. Your new website is also useless.

I was made aware of your 6 reservations and those reservations were made via different distributions (some via online reservations and some via call center. Also they were made on different terms such as prepaid; prepaid with inclusions (NOR1 Breakfast, Late Check-out, etc.), pay on arrival, etc. I believe that our Reservations team made contact with you via email and phone calls to reconfirm all the requirements to ensure there were no complications on arrival or throughout the stay. We did not receive a response to an email sent by our Reservations agent prior to arrival, despite having several phone conversations with you offering assistance. I agree with you that the booking was experience was chaotic, however the Hotel tried to assist to avoid this and to make it more confusing, we also weren’t advised which Reservations to link as they were all under the one name and you did not wish to add your guests names to the booking. Tired and in need of renovations

We were initially allocated room 1030. As we were walking down the hallway and arrived close to the room door there was a musty odour like something was wet. When we entered the room there was an overwhelming musty/mildew smell in the room. There was no way I could have slept in that horrific smell. Apart from the difficulty in sleeping in such a room, the smell and possible spores from mould or mildew is well recognised as a possible health issue. When I went to reception to seek another room the person I saw sought an upgrade from their manager but they were advised that this would only be provided at a cost of $10. Not wanting to make a fuss I agreed. However, having been an Accor Advantage Plus member for over 15 years I know that when I purchased the room the cost of an upgrade was $9. I am not concerned about the additional money but I am annoyed and upset about the treatment of an Accor member and the poor standard of the room. I don't believe that room 1030 should have been available at all. I can't be certain but it appeared that room 1030 wasn't even checked to resolve whatever the issue was before anyone else was allocated the room. I want to make it clear that I do not have any complaints in relation to the staff on the reception desk. They were helpful and tried their best. The room we were finally provided was okay but quite tired and in need of some tarting up. The bathroom was clean and a lot more modern than the rest of the room. Unfortunately, the pillows were the worst I have ever seen in a hotel. They were lumpy and hard. I did ask for other pillows for my second night and they were much better. The bed was also very average. I had to wonder what had happened to the beds and pillows etc. from the Mecure Treasury Gardens as the quality there was significantly better.

updated very small bathroom. Rooms need updating. Stains on armchair. Hard beds hard pillows. TV needs replacing asap sound is muffled, picture blurry and indistinct colour, screen too small. Prob won't stay here agin.
