Mercure Doncaster Centre Danum Hotel

My review mirrors Michael C had booked a room in November for the Paul Heaton concert in July, got an email four days ago saying my room was no longer available and are going to refund my money. No explanation and no offer of alternative accommodation, appalling customer service

We had bought tickets to see Paul Heaton in July at Doncaster FC, we had a booking for four adults for two nights. I received an email to say that our rooms had been cancelled and no reason given! We were offered no alternate accommodation and because of the concert taking place we unable to find any vacant Hotels in the area, the closet was 13 miles away.Disgusting customer service my advice would be to avoid at all cost as they appear to cancel bookings at the drop of a hat and give no concern or consideration to the customer.

The management at this hotel seem to think it is ok to cancel the 7 rooms we had booked, a week before we were due to go to the races for my husbands special birthday. Apparently it was due to ‘a last minute function’ personally I think they were just able to get more money for our rooms as we had booked them a long time ago. It took us 4 hours on the phone to source alternative rooms and now we are dotted all around Doncaster instead of being together to celebrate. I would say give your money to an alternative hotel who will appreciate your custom and not ditch you at the last minute ruining your break in order to get a bit more money from elsewhere. Stayed here before but after this will NEVER stay again Shocking treatment and attitude towards your customers…shame on you Mercure!

Booked this hotel in September 2021 for a Killers concert. I have just been notified this as been cancelled due to exclusive deal for the whole hotel from November 2021. So four months later I am notified giving me little chance of booking another hotel. Be very wary when booking with this hotel

We had booked a Christmas event in December for a group of people. Due to the venue taking a contract with the Home Office, they have cancelled all bookings until March. We learnt about this through the local newspaper rather than the owner. Appreciate they would have got a better offer but their statement in response was laughable - making it sound like it was a surprise to them the contract had been agreed. They have offered to relocate events to other venues or a refund. Unfortunately this will mean I'll never use the hotel again and will advise others visiting Doncaster of this experience. Hope it's worth it.
