Basic room great location.

FJolley TripAdvisor review

The price was cheap, and the room was basic. Small, dark furniture, high window with limited natural light. Comfortable bed. So felt a bit hemmed in. Resteraunt only does breakfast at $35 for full buffet. The location was fabulous short walk to Cuba street, eating and shopping district. If you wanna a cheap room for a holiday, and plan only to stay for a sleep this is ok. Car parking was for $35 a night, wgiches more than the car hire! But there is NO off street paring-free-all metered. Staff were fabulous.

A comfortable stay at this centrally located hotel

We stayed at this hotel when visiting Wellington. (Rm705) The staff were friendly and helpful. The foyer and corridors looked tired and in need of refurbishment. We stayed on the top floor overlooking a side street. The room was clean well appointed and of a good size. The beds were comfortable and the shower had a good pressure. Car parking was limited and a tight squeeze to get in. We could have done with double glazing windows as we did have some street noise from rowdy people. The restaurant at the hotel needed to display More Gluten Free Options as this prevented us eating there. Al's Top Tips Ask for a room not over looking Willis Street. Take a good umbrella / waterproof clothing as it rains alot here and can be quite windy.

So disappointed second time around. Not the accessible room promised.

I stayed here at the beginning of February and had a good stay in a room that was similar to those on the website. However, this time it was so disappointing and will not stay here again, nor recommend it to anyone. The first thing was having to wait for a Receptionist to appear at the desk so that I could book in. She did not give any information regarding how to use the lift, nor where to eat or breakfast timings. I was told by email that I was to have an accessible room and unlike my first visit, this was a far smaller room and there was no space for the comfy chair seen in the publicity photos. The room was only big enough to have the bed and two bedside tables. A table and upright chair and suitcase holder. To get to one side of the bed you had to fight with the wardrobe and drawers. Lighting was very dim. You could not have had a wheelchair in the room. The bathroom had a shower with a small lip which was fine, however once in the shower there was no body wash nor shampoo and the polystyrene ceiling tiles were showing signs of mould. Only one hand towel, two small bath towels, no bath sheets. There was no grab rail to be able to hold on to. Any toiletry accessories were noticeable by their absence. You would expect the usual, ie shower cap, sewing kit, shoe cleaner and tissues. Overall impression was that management did not care about the cleanliness or comfort in the bathroom. The pillows were very thin and I had to use the cushions to get a little depth. Tea and coffee facilities were limited to one mug of tea and there was a tea towel in the drawer which suggested I should do my own washing up. The fridge was not working and so the milk was warm. There was no information booklet, so guess work was used for the TV. There was no indication of breakfast times, nor any helpful information of where to eat. No complimentary paper and pen. There was no “Do not disturb” sign to be used. Walls were very thin and you could hear conversations in the next room. The next morning I had to ring Reception to find out breakfast times and where to eat it. I was told it was in the Staten – a bar on the side of the hotel. You walked into the Staten and there is no immediate sign of where the breakfast is. No one on hand to help, it was another guest who told me where it was. I did not have breakfast there last time so it was new to me. The breakfast area had no indication of whether the food was gluten free, dairy free etc. I picked up my plate to get hot food only to find that all the plates for the hot food were cold and the glasses for the cold juice were warm. The eggs were clearly powdered as you could see some of the powder. None of the standing dishes on the hot plate were marked and clearly had been around for some time (not fresh). I asked for a taxi to be called, which never came and I had to hail one myself outside. Not a good look for a hotel in the centre of the Country’s capitol, especially when trying to encourage people back after the pandemic

Worst hotel iv stayed at

I'm so disappointed in this hotel we booked for a 3 night stay and not once has anyone serviced the room no clean towels bought to the room we had to go and get them ourselves every day, ran out of toilet paper every day and had to get some ourselves we rang reception and was told it was because they were short staffed. The wifi was the worst iv ever experienced it was like we were back on dial up speed. If I could give the place less than 1 star I would. I will never book a meccure hotel again after this experience. Ran out of coffe tea ect and no liquid soap left in the containers in bathroom.

Mindle65 Couples - TripAdvisor review

We was looking forward to this hotel but after staying for 9 nights was very disappointed. The main problem was the noise - you couldn't sleep well as both sides every word spoken felt like they was in your room.We were on the 6th floor but with no double glazing everyone on the street might as well have been in your room. The shower was fine and beds comfortable ( which was irrelevant with the constant noise). The place is very dated and needs a serious upgrade of facilities .The room was serviced only 3 times in 9 days and the tea bags and milk never replenished. The bar is nice and restaurant food was ok but never opened at weekends( don't believe the lift signs that promise a free drink with a main meal it didn't??).Breakfast was average and well overpriced there are so many nice cheaper places very close by . The main plus is it is in a nice location if you have a short stay and don't want to sleep.
