Construction surrounding the pool area not advertised by the hotel affecting stay

There are very large construction works on properties immediately surrounding the pool area. This significantly affected our experience. We were not made aware of the construction around the pool area when we made the booking. There were several other issues specific to our stay that I have tried to discuss with the hotel but have been connected with an AI assistant which is very frustrating and disappointing. If someone more senior from the hotel could please contact me that would be appreciated.

My wife and I have stayed at the Sofitel Darling Harbour on numerous occasions, and it never fails to impress. A special shout out to the staff in club Millésime who went out of their way to make our experience even more enjoyable. Fantastic experience from check-in to check-out. Thank you so much. Our corner suite was spacious and comfortable with a fantastic view over the city to Botany Bay. We had the good fortune to dine at Atelier during our stay. As always, the food was outstanding along with excellent service from Daniella. Thank you Sofitel for yet another relaxing and comfortable experience. We’re looking forward to our next stay.

Couldn’t get in to about 3.45 then the key didn’t work, we were let in and the attendant went to get new keys. We waited in the room until going on 5pm as if we left we couldn’t get back in, eventually we went to reception and the keys were fixed and sitting on the counter. The reception people forgot to bring them up. Finally got to the pool for 1 drink then they shut up. Your team apologised and will give an upgrade, if they can, next time we come in. David D.

This was my second consecutive year choosing Sofitel Darling Harbour to celebrate my birthday. I want to express my sincere appreciation to Jarod, whose thoughtful gesture in remembering my birthday genuinely made a difference. His professionalism and kindness were the only reasons this stay wasn’t completely disappointing, and I am truly grateful for the way he looked after me. At check in, I was told about a 100 dollar charge that I had never selected at the time of booking. The front desk staff confirmed with a manager that the charge would be removed, yet during check out my friend was still asked to pay it. She was carrying her two-year-old child and was told she needed to pay immediately. She then called me, and only after I spoke directly with your front desk did they realise the charge should never have been applied. The situation was stressful and took far longer to resolve than it should have. To make matters worse, it has now been ten days and the refund still has not been returned. Additionally, a housekeeping staff member knocked and entered my room immediately without waiting for a response. I was only in my underwear at the time, and the door remained open while she stood there. This was extremely uncomfortable and a clear violation of privacy. These incidents overshadowed what was meant to be a celebratory stay, and they fell far below the standards I associate with Sofitel.
