Very Poor Check In Experience

I wish to provide some feedback on my recent stay and in particular the check in experience I had. I had decided to have my birthday Atelier as we love it there and love the team. They looked after us very well and I would like to recognize Gabi, Chit and especially Yogi and Vinny. I thought to treat myself and my partner it would also be nice to stay the night, enjoy a Prestige Suite and also the Club. I was met at check in by a person in training (whose name may have been Sahan). There was no smile, no "bonjour", just, "are you checking in and can I have your credit card and ID". Certainly not what I would have expected. Once she found the booking there was no recognition or comment on my loyalty or a welcome back. I then asked about the possibility of an upgrade and without checking I was curtly told that the hotel was fully booked. I knew this not to be the case as I had looked online and seen a number of rooms available including the Bellerive Suite. When I questioned this the response was, "Oh, I just assumed we were full". Not the greatest response. At this point I asked to speak to a supervisor. Also, I should point out that I thought an upgrade to the Bellerive Suite was unlikely and what I did was book the room type I wanted. After a few minutes a gentleman appeared (I cannot recall his name) and I explained the check in experience I had faced. He was sympathetic and said he would see what he could do. He moved us to a Prestige Suite with a better view and said that he would send wine up to the room as an apology. Sadly this never occurred. He also said he was going to speak to the team at Atelier to share my experience. They did mention my issue but as they are generally amazing I am not sure what more could have been done. As you can appreciate this was not the start to my birthday celebration that I was expecting. I was excited for the stay and the dinner and then to be let down at check in and also with the failure to deliver the service recovery just made for a poor experience.

We visited the lounge in the lobby for a brunch snack and whilst we were ordering we were informed by Nicholas that Accor limitless benefits did not apply to croissants. We queried this as on previous visits this was not the case. He smiled and said we were very lucky he was not present at that time as he would not have extended the benefit. We walked accross to the W Sydney instead as this type or arrogant behaviour is not acceptable to a loyal Gold Accor member of many years.

My wife and I was served by Brendan on check in and we have had a seemless experience with him on many occasions. Unfortunately our room was not ready at the time which was expected however I did notify the team prior and was told that my request would be prioritized. This was not the case. Brendan said to us that our room would be ready at 2pm and that I would get notified but this did not eventuate. I called after 2pm to check and the lady I spoke with said our room was not ready yet. My wife and I were out at the time so we took our time and decided to go back to the hotel and hopefully our room was ready. Thankfully the girl who was training said our room was ready. We had an early flight in we couldn't wait to rest. As a Diamond member this is the worst experience I've had with this hotel and to add to this the bathroom glass doors still had finger marks/grease and the room felt like it wasnt vacummed properly as we found debris around the room. Towards the end of our stay I had my dry cleaning of 2 shirts picked up at midnight and on the form, regular dry cleaning pick up before 9am will be returned back by 7pm same day. This was not the case my wife and I had dinner planned at 7.30pm that evening and when we got to our room later that day I had expected my shirts were returned but they weren't so at 7pm I called guest services and the guy who answered said he would get back to me. At 7.15pm I called again and he said he thought it was dealt with and said he will call them again and call me back this time he did call back and said it was on its way. We had to cancel our plans that evening because of this ordeal. There was no apology from anyone on why my drycleaning was returned by 7pm as stated on the form. Long queue at checkout was abit frustrating as we wanted to make a complaint but by the time we checked out with the staff member we paid for the dry cleaning and left. Would be nice to have dedicated desks for your premium guests.

We booked a Hotel for our Anniversary, we paid a fair bit but the room seemed really outdated and thought for the money we paid the room would of been better. The bathtub was really small unable to fit both of us in .
