Great stay at the Sofitel

Our family stayed for New Years and had a great time at the Sofitel. Breakfast was delicious every morning, the Spa was relaxing, and the rooms were super nice. We also had great service from the staff including Diego at the Concierge and Ramiro, the Bellman. Definitely will come back

We visited Sofitel last December 2025 fora family trip. We greatly enjoyed our stay there. The hotel is beautiful, glamorous and comfortable. The location is close to restaurants and shopping.

This was an alright stay but I would likely not book again. It was the first time my partner and I stayed in a 5 star hotel, and we were kind of disappointed as there was really no wow factor. I had left a note months in advance that it was our 1 year anniversary as well as that we were celebrating grad school acceptances as well as my partner finishing her first semester. There were no notes and really no mention of anything, which I saw was a common theme with others that were staying at the hotel. I utilized credit card points though, so it may have been because we were not full-paying customers. I inquired about an upgrade and paid for one, and the room ended up being one right outside an elevator, pretty gross for two female travelers. It also barely had a view of the angel, which I paid an additional upgrade fee for. It made me think that I in fact didn’t actually receive any upgrade yet paid the price for one. Overall, it was a gorgeous hotel that suited our needs for the time we were in Mexico City. It had wonderful staff and gorgeous views, but pretty underwhelming.

The stay was overall excellent. The hotel is in a great location, the amenities were fantastic, and the staff was awesome. Our overall experience was near-perfect were it not for an incident at the spa. We had originally booked a couples massage session for Saturday afternoon. We gave them our room numbers and other relevant details. After returning to our rooms to change, we felt that the massage may be rushed that day since we had a wedding to attend. We therefore called the spa and asked that they move it some time in the evening for the nexst day. They had availability at 6:30PM so we re-scheduled to then. Sunday was spent touring the city with the only intention of returning to the hotel for the spa. We arrived at 6:30 but were stunned to hear that our reservation could not be found. After looking into it, the spa staff stated that whoever put down the reservation did not record that we were staying guests. All non-guests need to fill out a payment form before the reservation is accepted. Considering that we were out all day, we did not check our emails. I checked my email then and found the initial confirmation email at 11:35AM with a message to fill out the payment form by 12:30PM. Shortly after 12:30, there was another email saying the reservation was released. Unfortunately, there were no other masseuses available at that time either with the earliest next availability at 8PM. We had dinner plans at 8:30 so this would not work. The situation was understandably frustrating as we had planned our day around the spa and were looking forward to it, especially since several of our friends highly recommended it. Furthermore, even if we had to fill out the payment form, a 55-minute time frame is unreasonable. Additionally, we should have been made aware of this at the time of booking. Although the staff at the spa front-desk apologized, it wasn't his fault. The stay just felt incomplete as we were looking forward to the spa. Overall, however, we are pleased with our stay.
