Rooms are generally very nice and clean, unfortunately the shower drain did give off a very unpleasant smell during showering. Water supply was at times discoloured, from what could be either a supply problem or rusty pipes. This was cleared by letting the water run for several minutes. This gave off a very unpleasant smell as well. Another issue is the hotel advertise airport shuttle service, this is however almost never available. I have stayed in this hotel at least 7 times and have so far only managed to use this service twice even with a hotel carted in front of the entrance. City taxis are ok but for a traveller carrying a lot of luggage like I do (1 big suitcase, 1 medium and 1 carry on bag) most of the local cars are simply too small. Restaurant and bar offers a good variety of food and drink. Smoking is unfortunately inside the ground floor bar so having a bar meal is not a pleasant experience unless you don’t mind people smoking whilst you’re eating. The restaurant is smoke free inside. I know these issues combined sounds like an overall bad experience, but the Novotel has a lot of good things as well. Location is good, located right next to a shopping mall with plenty of local food options, staff at the hotel is really good and nothing seems to be a problem if you need help. Hotel appearances is clean and well maintained, public toilets are clean and doesn’t smell at all. Pool is nice and normally not busy, well located next to the restaurant so easy for food and drink while spending time relaxing. I would definitely recommend this hotel and will for sure be using it again when I return to this area.

The staff is friendly and the hotel is otherwise good, but the air conditioning thermostats in almost every room do not work, and the room temperature cannot be adjusted accurately enough to the desired temperature.

I had a wonderful stay at Novotel Pekanbaru. The buffet breakfast offered a wide variety of delicious options, and the service throughout my stay was excellent. Jeje provided outstanding service, and Rani from the restaurant impressed me with her warm hospitality and for remembering my previous visit. Fina at the Front Office was also very friendly and welcoming. The room was clean and comfortable, and I would also like to extend my appreciation to the Housekeeping, F&B, and Front Office teams for their great work. Thank you to Mr. Rudy, the Executive Assistant Manager, and Mr. Sentot, the General Manager—you both did a great job in ensuring an exceptional guest experience. I truly enjoyed my stay at Novotel Pekanbaru and look forward to returning again.
