On the night of sleeping, i was waken up the ppl on my door around 4 am. Turns out it was the new quest next door checking in their room.It was china tourist as i can hear them from next door. They were very rude and talk loudly next door. I dont know why but they keep on trying to unlock my door which is 1102. The room soundproofing is bad as i can hear them talking loudly and showering, throwing around their luggage.

Pictures on the platform is not a representation of actual hotel room. Many things are old. My door lock malfunctioned and had to go up and down 3 times as I couldn’t enter the room. On the last night, wifi went off at 10-ish and no wifi after that.

I explained to the front desk, twice that the water was not hot enough. They said someone looked at it and that I did not understand how to operate the hot water. Absolutely unacceptable, we just gave up and endured cold showers. Won’t stay again.

I have been a loyal guest at Mercure Kota Kinabalu for the past 3 years, staying here frequently for work. However, the room maintenance this year has been very disappointing. On 7th April 2026 and again on 7th September 2026 (Room 2007), the air-conditioning in the room was not cold at all. During my last stay, we called the technician twice, but the reception insisted it was working normally, even though the room was still very warm. Very terrible experience this year. If this continues, I will have to consider other hotels for my future work trips to KK. Hope management can take this seriously.

Dear Hotel Management Team, I am writing to formally complain about our extremely unpleasant and unacceptable stay at your Mercure Hotel during our accommodation. We have encountered multiple serious issues uthroughout our two-night stay, which completely ruined our rest and caused a terrible experience, especially as this stay was arranged for my wife’s birthday. I would like to list all the severe problems in detail below: 1. Extreme room noise with unprofessional maintenance service There was extremely loud abnormal noise coming from both the living room and bedroom air-conditioner throughout the night, which was impossible to tolerate. We contacted the front desk multiple times to request repairs. The maintenance staff arrived very late at mid-night after repeated urging. After checking, they simply stated that the problem could not be fixed and promised to handle it only the next morning. As a result, we suffered unbearable loud noise the entire night and could not sleep at all. 2. Extremely poor balcony sound insulation The balcony insulation is defective. Loud motorcycle engine noises from outside continued throughout midnight. The persistent noise made it completely impossible for us to rest or sleep normally. 3. Aged facilities and poor hygiene condition The room facilities are seriously outdated, with obvious worn-out and damaged areas that have not been maintained or repaired. The overall hygiene standard is far below the standard of a Mercure hotel. 4. Major safety hazard with the room door The room door cannot close automatically. It can stay unlocked without any alarm reminder. This flaw creates serious personal and property safety risks during our stay. 5. Dangerous shower temperature problem causing scald injury The bathroom shower temperature is extremely abnormal. Even when adjusted to the middle position, the water remains scaldingly hot. Unfortunately, my wife was burned by the overheated water while bathing, which caused physical discomfort and ruined her birthday experience. 6. Poor quality disposable supplies and no replacement service The hotel slippers are of extremely low quality and broke easily after one use. The housekeeping staff did not replace new slippers during daily cleaning, showing very careless service quality. 7. Bad odor inside the wardrobe The wardrobe inside the room emits a strong sour and unpleasant odor, which affects the indoor environment greatly. 8. Missing basic hotel amenities Surprisingly, the room was not equipped with sleeping robes, which are basic standard amenities for your hotel level. Overall, due to the above multiple serious facility defects and poor service, we failed to sleep properly for two consecutive nights. This booked stay was originally intended to celebrate my wife’s birthday, yet it turned into an exhausting and unpleasant experience with physical discomfort and safety concerns. We are extremely disappointed with the outdated facilities, poor maintenance, unqualified hygiene, hidden safety hazards and irresponsible service of your Mercure Hotel. We sincerely request an official explanation and reasonable response from your management regarding this terrible stay experience. Looking forward to your formal reply.

Corridors needed updated,paint coming off walls.Only 2 dun loungers at pool.Bar at pool closed before closing time, we advised Duty Manager who was going to get in touch with the Operations Manager but we got no reply. Hot food served at breakfast time was cold.Eggs left to long on hot plate. Wouldn't recommend this hotel

I’ve make 2 reservation due to some personal preferences, which the staying date is continuously. I have request for early check in for the interface period (check out 12pm and check in 3pm). The front only reply me depends on availability. I also check before check out which the room empty but pending cleaning. The staff are not able or manage to fulfill my requested. Feel disappointed
