Lovely hotel and nice stay. Was just far too hot, seemed too be a lack of air conditioning in rooms/function rooms. Breakfast was lovely tasting and beds very comfortable and our room was of a very generous size.

So when we got to the hotel and was given our door cards it took us at least 20 minutes to find the room because the room numbers are all over the place I then try to call call my friend but there was no signal inside the hotel thought it was hitting miss whether or not we bump into each other between the landings. The second problem we had was the air conditioning or should I say the lack of it the room was stifling hot and unbearable to stay in don't know how we did it. The third problem was the green emergency light which during the night kept us awake to the point where we had to ask to sleep in another room. The 4th problem was a shower there was no cold running water to get a drink or even to have have a cool shower even the cold water tap on the shower was very warm no matter how long you ran it for. The only good thing about this hotel was the staff whoever owns this hotel needs to look at upgrading the rooms especially with aircon and maybe think about re numbering the rooms. Because of these problems we will not be staying here again.

Two night stay in Darlington

The hotel is centrally located in Darlington, so all of the town centre is within walking distance it also has on site parking. It is a new modern hotel that uses the old Kings Hotel facade, and the entrance is now on Priestgate. The room allocated to us was up on the 3rd floor, it was spacious, clean and overlooked a roof, unfortunately this roof also had an aircon/air extraction unit that was buzzing away loudly. After informing the desk, we were moved to a 2nd floor room which was bijoux in comparison to the 1st room but thankfully was quiet. The WC facilities were even tighter, I would say if you have a larger frame the WC would become difficult to use. We ate in the hotel the first night, the menu while not extensive is adequate and the food tasty. The bed was comfortable and assisted a good night's rest. Breakfast was good giving all the normal choices. The only fly in the ointment is the "new" computer system that had us booked in for three days, with two breakfasts, but had us down as a no show for day one (including breakfast) so when we appeared at the dining room on day two, we were informed we weren't booked! So we got a really good breakfast in the Juniper Tree, Grange St ( two breakfasts for £15). After speaking with the front desk and receiving an apology with a refund we left. Would I recommend this hotel, yes definitely, it did what it advertised and apart from a small glitch did well.

Great hotel, staff great just wish the was more choice of food for breakfast then a fry up as don't mind just ones a week but to have for a few days is not my cup of tea thanks, just think £10 is alot of money for a little choice of menu hopefully a full menu be back soon and porridge be back on the menu

Staff were very friendly and helpful. Chose the hotel as it said wheelchair accessible, husband got the wheelchair into the hotel, lift and room easily. He could walk a few steps assisted into the bathroom however I do feel that a few more additions could help those with reduced mobility. Food /, drinks good at a reasonable price.

Thank you for making me welcome. I have yet to work out the effort of online check-in, as it takes as long at the desk however the formalities were quick and pleasant. The room was compact and in an 8/10 category. The bathroom was fine but just needs a little maintenance. The shower was clean and plenty of hot water. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. The lampshades, holders and cable were heavily dust covered which surprised me in view of the emphasis on cleaning. Shame about the 10.30 fire alarm but these things happen and it could well have been later and real. Breakfast, spot on 10/10. Served quickly, hot and plentiful. All taken a good place to stay in Darlington and within half and hour of Durham and many surrounding towns/ villages and attractions.

I have stayed there many times but never again. Paint coking away from walls ,pieces of wood chipped , walls are black in places wall paper coming away carpets deteriorated . Over all it's not what I expected whilst taking my wife away for a few days , could of got the premier Inn for cheaper which is where I will go in future .

Yes, we have a planned rooms maintenance schedule in place and yes, that has been delayed for the past 18 months through lock down and furlough of our team. We are working through all in an order of priority and our rooms are clean and available to all our valued guests at an appropriate room rate. For example, yes there are a few scuff marks around the luggage rack, however the walls are not black as you have described. As I say, we take your comments as constructive criticism to allow us to improve and we are sorry that our perceptions are different on this occasion. Always very good and so convenient for the town centre. We had a problem with the TV in our room, but this was fixed pretty quickly. We are always pleased with The Kings as we make annual trips to visit relatives (except last year!).

Check in was good as my key and welcome drink we ready for me when I arrived, unfortunately I didn't get an upgraded room on this occasion, rooms could do with Air Conditioning as they ca get very stuffy during good weather, the windows open but it can get quite noisy outside.

We were meeting up with friends and had a lovely welcome from reception staff help with our luggage and all staff were smiling and friendly. Breakfast dispute some of the reviews I had read was good. My hubby’s only complaint was the whiskey he had in the bar but he is a bit of a whiskey snob. Overall a pleasant experience.
