September last year I wrote a review praising the Pullman Cairns. Last night I had to book a last minute stay for my daughter and grandkids who were stranded in Cairns after a delayed fight and sitting on the tarmac on for hours. I booked successfully online, and rang the Reservations Desk to confirm my credit card. The desk attendant could not find the booking, despite me reading it out using a phonic alphabet. I had to repeat this, very slowly, 6 times before he understood. After finally finding the booking, he failed to note this was a breakfast included rate. Seriously, a five star hotel should have this sorted in a minute, taken my details and allowed me to get on with my night. I woke up this morning to find an email confirmation of yet another booking tonight. Once again I had to ring to sort it out. A different person (Duty Manager?) on the desk this morning; she could understand me, but her response was no better. She asked me to stay on hold while she investigated - 5 minutes later blamed an online duplication error. Online booking is no new thing, I would have thought Accor might have mastered this by now. I took the opportunity to state my issues of the previous night. Her response: thanks, bye, and hung up in my ear. To top it off, they sent a final invoice that was both unreadable and misleading. It appeared they had charged me for breakfast - twice. Front desk tried to tell me breakfast was not included in my booking. Duty Manager once again, apparently, told me I had not been charged twice - to disregard bottom line and note just the mastercard fee. Such a fall from grace from my experience last year. I worked for many years as an event buyer. The one point of contact that has to work is the front desk, together with the one phrase that can make everything all right - 'my apologies'. No one at the Pullman seems to have heard of that one.

Your concerns are deeply concerning and far below the standard of service we aim to provide, especially for our returning guests. I understand how frustrating it must have been to deal with repeated issues, from difficulty confirming your booking to the apparent miscommunication around the breakfast inclusion and the confusing invoice. These challenges, compounded by an unhelpful and dismissive attitude, are unacceptable. Please rest assured that I will personally review this situation with the relevant teams, including the duty managers, to ensure these issues are addressed and that similar incidents are prevented in the future. Clear communication, professional handling of reservations, and, most importantly, a sincere apology when things go wrong should be standard at every interaction. I deeply regret the fall from grace you experienced compared to your previous positive stay. Thank you for bringing these issues to our attention, and I hope we can regain your trust and provide you and your family with a significantly improved experience in the future. Dark Side HighTea - A high tea of galactic proportion!

In a galaxy not so far away this January and February The Pullman Cairns International is running a Dark Side High Tea! If you haven’t guessed yet, it’s Star Wars theme!😍 We went to the Wizard High Tea last year and it was super fun so we were so excited to check this one out!🤩 It’s on Level 2 upstairs in the Kingsford’s Lounge again where it’s all closed off and decorated with Star Wars themes!✨ Around the dining area you can find Darth Vader, Darth Sidious, Yoda, Jawas, a Storm Trooper and Kylo Ren. Theres also a Light Saber that we played around with.😁 We started off with some Cocktails which were all themed.🍸 We got Darth Vaders Star Destroyer with Cointreau, lemon juice, bourbon & grenadine and Skywalkers Lightsaber with vodka, Blue Curacao & lemonade.❤️💙 Next we got another cocktail, Yoda’s Jedi Mind Trick which even looked like Yoda!💚 with Midori, Cointreau, lemon & lime juice and our treats arrived! We got 4 sweet and 4 savoury items each on the tiered stand. My favourites were the Matcha Smoked Duck slider and the Chewy Mont Blanc.🤤 Then we got some tea with Jade Sword Green Tea and Jasmine Pearls Green Tea both from China. Out came fresh Dark Side Scones which were coloured black, I’m guessing with charcoal because Dark Side!!🖤 How cool!!😍 With strawberry jam, cream and raspberry coulis to put on top. The whole experience is perfect for families, friends and Star Wars fans! I love these themed high tea experiences! It's such a unique thing to have in Cairns! We were thinking up other ideas for future high teas like Lord of The Rings or James Cameron's next Avatar movie is coming out in Dec so maybe Avatar would be good as the hype will be happening! We are excited to see what Cairns International does next!

Smelled corridors and no prices list for mini bar

Smelled corridors, bugs on beds and no prices list for mini bar. Expensive without a view. Other hotels like Flynn cheaper and much better than Pullman.

Great Rooms but the facilities greatly lacking

Beautiful renovated rooms in a very well located area. Unfortunately the hotel is let down by a couple of key issues. The pool area is half closed off and you are never advised of this. Unfortunately this area becomes very busy with overseas tourists and is impossible to use. We chose this hotel to relax around the pool, very sad. I was told later upon check out that we could use the pool at the sister hotel. This was advised too late. The restaurant and bar area is old and antiquated. The food and service is good. May i give a special shout out to Rachael at reception, great service and an asset to the Hotel

One of my favorite spot spending my weekend. Nicole is always amazing in assisting request and been always accomodating. Great customer service. Lobby is stunning. The refurb rooms are amazing, highly recommend. Thank you again to all the staff!
