Not bad and cost-effective accommodation option in Cairns. Superb service by the staff but the property is quite run-down and requires some 'love'. Our room was spacious but also a bit 'tired' with dusty ceiling fan and walls, not the best air-conditioner and smart Tv that couldn't connect to the WiFi... On positive side - swimming pool, coffee machine and good shower & beds complimented our stay. Yes, have I mentioned the staff? They are wonderful and most helpful! Thank you!!!

I have stayed in other Mercure hotels before but this one is definitely the worst Mercure so far. - Room was not clean as I found rubbish under the bed on arrival - Restaurant was closed for renovation but no prior notification at all (I could have chosen a different hotel to stay for the convenience) - Stayed for 4 nights in total. There was only one day the bed was made up. No sheets changed for the entire stay. I complained but was told it was due to public holidays. I am not sure if this is a decedent reason as I would also have paid more due to it's public holidays. - The quality and facilities of the hotel is no way near a 4.5 star as it suggests on the website.

This hotel should not be operating until the water damage and mold have been abated and completely repaired. Upon walking into the lobby, you are overwhelmed by mold smell to the point of eyes watering, chest tightening, and headaches. We advised the counter staff they should not be working under these conditions. Then we were placed directly above this water damage in room 201 which had been heavily sprayed with air freshener to cover up the smell. During our 3 day stay, the staff removed the plastic in the lobby, and we thought they were starting to work on it, but no, they only replaced it with new plastic. The staff had said it had been like that for 3-4 weeks from a storm. When we looked that up, the storm was more than 5 weeks prior. The Novatel around the corner had some damage as well, however they had properly mitigated and abated and were in the process of putting in new drywall. Do not stay here!

Rooms are well sound proofed and modestly appointed. Staff were friendly and helpful , if you’re looking for nice room on a medium budget then this it . Overall a pleasant stay . Restaurant is small but capable of good food , I would eat there again .

We had a fabulous experience with the staff at the Mercure Cairns. Miki went above and beyond every day for us to find reservations, get restaurant suggestions, and took care of any issue with our room. Patricia in the restaurant made sure we enjoyed each night’s happy hour. Stephen went above and beyond to ensure an issue with our room’s smoke detector was handled quickly so we were not too inconvenienced.
