Comfortable, located just off the motorway, but needs a refurbishment

I stayed here for one night in December 2025. I chose this hotel as it was on the way to where I needed to be the next day and I didn't want to face the traffic driving into central Bristol. The hotel is located on the outskirts of the city in a rural setting and is not far from the M4. There is an Aldi supermarket a couple of miles from the hotel. The hotel has a large carpark. The hotel is fine and somewhat elegant but is starting to show its age. The first impression is that the driveway has several potholes (that should be easy to fix!) and the interior of the hotel would benefit from a refurbishment, eg new paint, carpet etc. There are several lounge areas good for having a drink and relaxing. I can see that this would be a good venue for a corporate retreat, wedding etc. The dinner menu was varied and the breakfast was fine, ie a good selection of cold items and a cooked breakfast available.

Booked room as had a Christmas do here, thought it would be easier than going all the way home, Christmas food was really tasty atmosphere was great, will say being served at the bar did take a while I think it took a good few minutes to do some drinks

An enjoyable short stay in a rural location, but close enough to the city and motorways. A beautiful old house with plenty of parking, but the drive leading to the car park has many potholes and needs urgent attention! The rooms were a decent size and the breakfast good and plentiful. All the staff we met were very pleasant, especially Anastasia who we saw each morning at breakfast. She was charming, and went out of her way for us. Stopping to chat, whilst being mindful of other guests in the room. Nothing was too much trouble for her.
