Negatives: tiny room, tired furniture and bar closed. Positives: comfy bed, quiet

Dear Nicholas, Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your experience at the Mercure Nottingham City Centre George Hotel. I am sorry that your experience did not meet your expectations; please allow me to express my sincerest apologies. I can see you chose to book our smallest room grade, a City Pad. This is our entry level room and is indeed small. We have larger rooms such as our Standard King rooms, Privilege rooms and Suites. I am confident the latter 2 room grades would provide the additional space you may require or desire. I further apologise for any disappointment with our bar having been closed but very much hope you were able to enjoy and take advantage of one of the very many bars in our immediate area. At Mercure, we strive to provide a superior service experience for every customer; therefore your feedback is very important to us. Please rest assured that we are taking the appropriate measures to address the problem and prevent future occurrence. We were given a fantastic room no. 103. Unfortunately, there were rubbish bags outside the window. Therefore, we asked to be moved. Not to such a nice room, but at least there was no rubbish in view. We hope that the rubbish has since been moved, as it ruined a very nice room.

1 night stay. Had all we needed The only slight criticism is the carpet could have been a bit nicer/newer But very comfortable & toid price

Booked into a lovely spacious, clean, comfortable room. All was good until we went to bed and music started blasting out from premises in front of the hotel. Unfortunately this continued until after 3:15 am, so we got very little sleep. This wasn't great as my wife was doing some training the next day. When I mentioned this at reception the next morning, i received an apology and was offered to change rooms once rooms had been cleaned. This was a gesture I appreciated, but it's difficult to believe that the hotel wasn't aware of the very late and loud music issue in advance. (It wouldn't have been so much of an issue if the noise had stopped, say by 1 am.) We changed rooms in the afternoon of the following day. The new room, although still with king-size bed, was quite a bit smaller than our original room, as was the bathroom. When I went to clean my teeth later in the evening, I found that the basin tap was broken (turning it to left or right produced no water, lifting it up detached the lever). I managed to get a trickle of water by manipulating it. I couldn't face trying to change rooms again, so I waited till the next morning when we checked out to mention the tap issue. Once again, I received an apology, but would room cleaning staff really not have noticed this when cleaning the room before we changed rooms? Not a great experience all round.
