Luxury room in the heart of town

TripAdvisor rating 5.0/5

Jenikaph Couples - TripAdvisor review

First thing you need to know is the car park for this hotel is behind it. Reception staff were lovely and our check-in was very quick. The reception and foyer area are welcoming and there are some comfy chairs if you're waiting for someone. This is a three storey hotel and is an older building. The staircase is wide and has beautiful timber banisters, there's a gorgeous window in the stairwell but it is partially obscured by the staircase itself. The lift is gorgeous! It's heritage listed and only fits two! Lots of timber and a manually operated door. Our open-plan room was on the first floor and it was stunning! We had a wall of windows that overlooked the town. The bedroom area was furnished with a very comfortable king size bed, lounge chair, large screen smart TV and air conditioner. Our room opened into the living area which had a kitchenette with a microwave and crockery, a sitting area with a couch, desk and a large corner spa. There was also a separate ensuite. The room was clean, private, quiet and extremely comfortable and very affordably priced. We would definitely stay here again.

Be prepared for an older property.

A great central hotel location in Mildura where you can walk everywhere in the town centre. You may be surprised with the age of this property with it's huge, dated, clean rooms and small, antique timber lift. I actually used the stairs instead.

Average room with heating working intermittently

The room I got was average and did not have a Mercure hotel feel, hard to pin point what it was but it just felt very average. The air conditioner was working intermittently and I had to increase the temperature for it to stay on and heat up the room especially on the cold night. My other colleague’s rooms were much better compared to mine and had a better feel to the but still not something that a 4 star hotel rooms should be like. The hotel has a small heritage lift which is handy. Reception staff was nice. We only interacted with them at check in and check out. Won’t really be staying here again.

Total nightmare. The worst Mercure Hotel I have seen all over the globe.

It's difficult to write a review which describes how bad this hotel really is. At the reception worked a totally unmotivated lady. Unfriendly, cold and unprofessional. I was not informed about WLAN password. When I asked about breakfast (which is included in my Accor Platinum membership) she pointed to their restaurant. The next morning I found out that the hotel has no restaurant at all. So incompetent. During my one night stay (only one night luckily...) I was in touch with three ladies at the reception: afternoon, evening and next morning. All three incompetent and unmotivated. They have no clue what the meaning of "hospitality" is. Emails I sent pior to my arrival have not been answered by the hotel. My Accor Platinum membership comes with some additional benefits. The only benefit I got was an upgrade from a dirty small room to a dirty bigger room with a bathtub. But the bathtub itself was also so dirty that no civilised human being would ever enjoy to use it. The lady at reception did let me know that she and the hotel doesn't care about my platinum membership. When I told her that all this here is not up to the standards of the Accor loyalty program she replied "I don't care. I am only working here". Wow. The hotel itself definitely has not been renovated since the 60's. It's difficult to describe. It has more of a hotel in a Hollywood horror movie. But definitely not a place to stay in 2024. Everything is old, it smells everywhere, everything is dirty and worn out totally. The lift is a nightmare, it has a sliding door, obviously dating from the early 50's. A lot of noise comes from the corridors day and night because of doors. The windows are covered with spider webs. The air condition is broken, it is dirty and spreading germs in the room. The carpet is dirty and covered with stains. Totally disgusting. The furnitures are old and totally tasteless. There is no interior design, the furniture looks more like coming from a flee market. Not to mention that of course also the furnitures are dirty. You definitely don't want to sit one these dirty brown chairs or touch anything. The room itself smells horrible. Difficult to breathe. Windows cannot be opened but are not soundproof. Noise from the street day and night. Sleeping without earplugs impossible. The mattress is a bad joke, it's more like a hammock than a mattress. Bathroom is full of mold, the bathroom door is broken and the ventilation full of dirt and dust. It's another bacteria superspreader. Horrible. My advice to Accor Australia : tear down this hotel, fire your staff, build a new hotel, hire motivated staff and train them in hospitality. It's the worst Mercure hotel I've stayed all over the globe in my whole entire life.

Great location but needs a good upgrade

The staff were very friendly but seemed like they were not fully trained. As there is no bar at the hotel the drink selection is at reception. Upon asking we were informed that there was only one of what we asked for and that supply of most of the other drinks was also very limited. As an ACCOR member that was unexpected. Also there was no bottle opener at the front desk to open the bottles
