Firstly, im quite disappointed as i have not received any email prior arriving. This is not the case, as i normally will receive few days in advance asking about my preference and arrival information. I was so worry that if the hotel booking was cancelled and i double checked from my accors apps and luckily the booking was still there. check in experience was average, i think the receptionist are not knowledgeable regarding accors plus membership benefit, as i was confirming with them if i were to have breakfast in their restaurant, will i get 50% discount as im a silver member. Im not sure if they cannot understand me but i was speaking mandarin to them. To be frankly , room view was perfect yu long snow mountain view, but i sincerely hope that the hotel can upgrade and refurbish the rooms as can see clearly the wall are tearing off, the chair cushion is quite broken, and the bed furnishing are also tearing off. Pullman Lijiang has a very nice location, but the room furnishing is too old and seriously need immediate upgrade. I really like pullman hotel and i have stay few pullman before, in fact i arrived from PULLMAN DALI before arriving pullman Li Jiang and i got a shocked when i was in the room. secondly, i think the hotel management need to teach all their staff regarding the difference and benefit of ACCOR PLUS member and their china own accor programme.When i was at the restaurant for breakfast, they gave me a 15% discount instead of 50% discount until i show them my benefit on the apps, only they reliase the error, and it was from their restaurant manager. and same thing happen to another customer who was a platinum accor plus member, he told me the same thing happen to him , and because he could not speak mandarin, i have to help him to translate and inform the reception counter about this issue and help him to solve this. This is seriously disappointing as i felt the accor plus member is not appreciated in pullman lijiang. This should not happen in any accor chain. when i was in pullman DALI and sofitel Kunming, they recognize my benefit well. So i believe the management team has to put an effort to educate their staff on this.

Although it’s an aged hotel with lots of improvement on the hardware but to make it up, the services rendered by the hotel staff make up for the shortfall. Hotel Housekeeping very generous in providing more than bottles of mineral water in the room which so important for dry weather humidity in Lijiang. However, hotel should look into improving its breakfast menu that cater for guests like me who stay longer than 3days.

So I don’t like writing negative reviews but I feel I’ve got to here. I was really excited and looking forward to our stay at the Pullman, as I’ve stayed at Pullman resorts all around the world, and this is bottom of the heap! The one thing I was looking forward to was an indoor heated pool to swim in after being out all day. It’s called Pullman resort and spa… yet there is only an outdoor pool (and it’s currently 7 degrees) unless you book a private villa. We get to our room and to be honest it felt pretty dated compared to other Pullman’s I’ve stayed in. It feels like the Pullman that Pullman forgot about. The safe didn’t work and locked my passports in it and I had to get hotel staff to come get them out. It is FAR from soundproof, to the point my partner heard the neighbour fart through the walls, and we got woken up multiple times at some crappy hour by someone’s door banging shut. Next thing which was not so great, was the almost complete lack of English (only one staff member spoke English) and I don’t mean that to sound privileged or bratty as we were obviously in China, but it was beyond a joke. I’ve travelled multiple times around the world, and always the hotel staff has spoken English. Checkin could only be done via google translate! Next up, I tried to order a cake and an electric car turned up 😂. The reception staff were lovely and tried their best but if you were someone who didn’t use a mobile phone, have access to google translate, or were from the older generation, you’d be absolutely stuffed. If we’d have booked an obscure Chinese hotel I’d be expecting that but we chose an international brand hotel to try make thing a a bit easier, to which we just found it easier to organise tours and activities ourselves rather than asking hotel staff for help (even though that is offered). Finally, wifi is no good at all. Requires a Chinese phone number or WeChat but when selecting WeChat error codes were displayed despite WeChat being successfully installed and working on the device, so again we just had to test her our mobiles. The positives: it is close to Shuhe old town and is clean but that’s about it. Soooo, hate to say but all in all I wouldn’t stay here again and definitely wouldn’t recommend.
